The San Francisco 49ers have acquired New York Giants wide receiver Mario Manningham with a two-year contract, a league source confirmed.
Manningham became an instant hero in New York last month with his tiptoe, 38-yard catch down the sideline to launch the Giants' game-winning drive against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI. Most believed that play also made him a much hotter commodity on the free-agent market.
Pro Football Talk first reported the Manningham deal.
Manningham, 25, also visited the St. Louis Rams.
The 49ers moved on quickly after Brandon Lloyd agreed to terms with the New England Patriots.
Manningham caught 39 passes for 523 yards and four touchdowns last season after catching 60 passes for 944 yards and nine touchdowns in 2010.
In four NFL seasons, the former University of Michigan standout has caught 160 passes for 2,315 yards and 16 touchdowns.
