I understand where you want to go by implying the Costa Rican misuse of "como nuevo" although it has been sitting in a corner for 10 years CAUSE it was "barely used". That is funny. BUT, not even translated to TICO Spanish, the "like new" term is used everywhere. Doesn't it resemble the coined " CERTIFIED PREOWNED"?? Everyone hypes a sale. If 90% of the used cars/quads/dildos in Costa Rica have been misrepresented, there's a good chance when you walk onto a random used car lot that those cars will be misrepresented.
Pick 3 random used car lots with at least 10 cars each. Gather the vin numbers on all 30+ cars. Take all those vin numbers and run them through carfax.
25+ will have more miles than the odometer reads. Some will be listed as salvage.

Hangman... I too come from the land of "Weapons of Mass Destruction" Leader as well... Born in the US doesn't make us honest by Culture. Being born "gallo pinto" doesn't make a person deceitful niether....
Dishonesty is everywhere and if we spoke of Culture of deceit and greed.... ENRON and many, many...... many other cases would stack against GRINGOS making us the worse looking cheats.

I am not upset I just disagree, there are honest Ticos. The equation in CR is to take advantage if possible. That is not a TICO thing its a HUMAN thing. Ever hung out around casinos in Vegas? Do that long enough and Ticos look naive.

I've run into my fair share of liars and cheats here in Canada. Some of them use titles like financial adviser, banker, insurance adjuster, stock broker, mortgage broker, lawyer, journalist, minister, priest, the list goes on and on.
As for Costa Rica, warm weather all the time, democratic government, no military, stable economy, beaches, surfing, beautiful women. Man, if I could convince my wife and kids to move, I'd gladly become a Tico.
