New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is a team player, restructuring his contract to create $7.2 million in salary-cap room for the AFC East team, an NFL source confirmed.

The former Super Bowl MVP's four-year, $72 million contract was restructured last week. He reduced his base salary from $5.75 million and scheduled $6 million roster bonus to a guaranteed $950,000 for 2012 as the Patriots gave him a $10.8 million bonus.

The $6 million roster bonus and the remaining $4.8 million were combined to come up with the bonus amount.

The salary-cap figure for Brady's 2012 contract is now $8 million, down from $15.2 million.

And Brady is due the following base salaries and cap figures going forward: $9.75 million salary for 2013 fully guaranteed with a $21.8 million cap figure and a $9.75 million salary fully guaranteed in 2014 with a $21.8 million cap figure.
Brady has $5 million in roster bonuses due in 2013 and 2014 and an annual $250,000 workout bonuses.

Doesn't hurt that his wife probably has more money that he does. If he's still getting all of the money I'm not sure how much of a sacrifice it is.

Pats haven't won a thing since spygate. Coincidence? I don't think so.

you like that huh? :)!/

come on ... they need to shake things up. This ain't working anymore.

They need to do something. Maybe a new coach. Maybe trade Brady. There's bound to be a team or 2 that will be interested.

Right... They need to shake things up, I mean, they only missed winning two Superbowls by one or two plays in each... and lost those Superbowls to a VERY good team.

.. if only they knew what the other teams were gonna do again, maybe they would have won one of those Super Bowls.

How much $ you make betting against them. Must make a lot betting against a team thats covered the spread like 55-60% of the time since your little spygate thingy.

I don't bet against them very often during the regular season that's for sure. They are smart money most of the time. During the playoffs is another thing however.

I am a Miami fan so it's hard for me to give the Pats much credit.

cheers

Maybe they just need to get a D and some sort of a running game. They were one missed pass from winning it this year and one lucky ass catch a few years back. Very easily could be 100% in SB during the Brady era.
