All are welcome to post their 2012 major league baseball picks in this thread.

I will be posting all my season long picks in this thread and will also keep my cumulative record of wins and losses (no units) for picks I make in this thread.
Not sure how many picks there will be as this time of the year is busy for me.
All discussion is welcome / iron sharpens iron.

As usual, the goal is to have tons of fun while destroying the books and building up a fat bankroll - one dollar at a time. Let's be civil and enjoy the ride!!!!

YTD : 0-0

Wed 3/28 at 6:10 AM EST [947] Seattle Mariners - F Hernandez -130 (ML) - listed

** note** this game starts at 6:10 AM in the morning EST time-- game is being played in Japan.
Felix Hernandez owns the Oakland A's and he's pitched well in past opening games.
May still be a close game as both teams have issues on both sides of the ball.

GL Recon, Felix is a stud... hopefully Ichiro comes out full swing for his fans in Japan as well. Super early though especially for my West Coast ass so I may try to catch the 9th inning while I make coffee.. Hope you tear the books in the bases as well pal!

The infallible Ichiro: 4 Hits, 1 RBI. Nice job sir.

Ichiro--- ever the showman - -esp in front of his fellow countrymen.
He's batting third this year - so we might see some more pop from him too.

I noticed that as well.. Hopefully we'll see more potency from the Mariners offense than we've in recent years and give Felix a couple more notches underneath his belt.

we can only hope -- The A's and Mariners are probably the two most anemic offenses in the American league.
Felix would be winning 20+ games a year if he had a team that could score 3 runs for him.

2. Thu 3/29 at 5:05AM EST - 995 Seattle Mariners J Vargas - L -110 (ML) - Listed

** note** this game starts at 5:05 AM in the morning EST time-- game is being played in Japan.
Mariners won a close one in the opener. I see game 2 as a toss up.
M's used three pitchers / A's used six. Don't see Vargas or Bartolo Colon pitching more than six innings in game 2.
Might be an offensive explosion in the later innings of this game -- but can't pull the trigger on the over 8.5 runs for the game.

Game 2 in Japan between the Mariners and the A's didnt quite turn into the
battle of the bullpens as I had envisioned. A's take it 4-1.
Bartolo Colon was masterful - throwing 8 shutout innings and needing only 86 pitches to do so.
Jason Vargas pitched 6 1/3 innings for the M's and didn't allow a run either. M's bullpen gave up all 4 runs on the night.
The A's rookie centerfielder - Yoenis Cespedes hit a 2 run home run in the 7th to give the A's the lead
and they never looked back. He looks like the real deal at the plate and in the field.
Josh Reddick and Jonny Gomes also homered to round out the A's scoring.

correction: Bartolo Colon pitched 8 innings of one run ball --
he gave up a solo home run to Justin Smoak in the 7th inning.

Wow.. what a low scoring series so far. Not sure if it's the great pitching or the bad offense is the reason for it.

bad offenses for sure -- these two teams will have a hard time scoring all year.

I'm interested to see what effects the ownership change by Magic and his buddies are going to have on the Dodgers ballclub this year. IMO, anything to get McCourt out of there is fine by me at this point.

mccourt still has control of the parking lots. the change in ownership will be good --
they will probably try to sign Kershaw to a long term deal and sign a free agent or two in the offseason.
Cole Hamels will be out there -- would be nice one/ two with Kershaw.

DChosta - All picks are welcome by anyone -- the more the merrier. I'm not limiting the plays just to mine.
