The Yankees have signed veteran Jack Cust to a minor-league deal, WFAN’s Sweeny Murti reports.

Cust, who will report to New York’s Triple-A affiliate, was cut on Tuesday by the Houston Astros. He’ll provide insurance mainly at DH, but also at first base and the corner outfield positions.

Cust has 105 career home runs, 97 of which came with the Oakland Athletics between 2007 and 2010. The 33-year-old New Jersey native sent three out of the park last season for the Seattle Mariners before his release in July.

The left-handed slugger was hampered by an elbow injury and went just 1 for 25 over 11 games this spring for Houston.

Also on Wednesday, MRI results on Curtis Granderson’s sore right elbow came back negative. He’s considered day to day.
