Minnesota Twins pitcher Carl Pavano was the victim of an extortion attempt in which a former classmate tried to get money and an SUV from the right-hander by threatening to reveal information about his personal life, Pavano's family claims.

According to a search warrant affidavit obtained by Connecticut daily, the Record-Journal, Pavano's sister Michelle DeGennaro accused Christian Bedard, 36, of trying "to extort monetary funds for his fabricated, false information" and believed he could hold the Pavano family "hostage" with the information.
DeGennaro filed a complaint to police in Southington, Conn., in December after a series of Facebook messages she received from Bedard.
"The only way your brother is getting out of this ... is with a heartfelt apology and a navy Range Rover with tan leather," Bedard said in one message to DeGennaro, the affidavit said.
According to the Record-Journal report, Bedard claims to have had an "emotional and physical relationship" with Pavano that lasted for three years when they were in high school.
"I'm sure they don't want any of this getting out there," Bedard said.
DeGennaro called Bedard's claim that he had a relationship with Pavano "clearly false."

Bedard, a Southington man, had a laptop and journal seized by police last week but was yet to be charged with any crime.
Police said Wednesday they were not releasing any information as the investigation was ongoing.

TAMPA, Fla. -- New York Yankees pitcher Carl Pavano says he missed his scheduled spring training start last Friday because of a medical situation involving his girlfriend.

Pavano, who discussed the matter for the first time Sunday, left Legends Field about 45 minutes before Friday's game after receiving permission from the team. The right-hander returned Saturday and threw a 45-pitch bullpen session in preparation for a start Monday night against Boston.
"The reason I left, my girlfriend had a severe medical condition and I had to be with her," Pavano said.
Pavano didn't give specifics about the problem, but said his girlfriend is "doing well."
Pavano didn't ask for permission to leave Friday, but was told to by New York manager Joe Torre.
"It definitely weighed on me," Pavano said. "There definitely was a little bit of a struggle about me wanting to pitch. I went with the voice of reason because my head was kind of going in both directions. In life, sometimes there are things you've got to take care of that take precedent over that."
Pavano has made one spring start, on March 4 -- eight days after his left instep was bruised by a line drive during batting practice. Pavano, who is starting the third season of a $39.95 million, four-year contract, hasn't pitched in the major leagues since June 27, 2005, due to shoulder, back, buttocks, elbow and rib injuries.
"I'm looking forward to my start tomorrow," Pavano said. "It's not the first time I've had issues or things going on."

Or did he just have a " Try Out" for the Other "Team" back then when he was a Kid. ??

I know they say it is a False or fabricated threat. But some times these things work out to be True.

A lot of talk on the Internet before this came out, questioning if he is married or has a Girl friend.
