yea, like Van Gundy said... Kentucky might have 3-4 NBA players, but these teams have 13

Barkley just talking shit, Bobcats/Raptors would be double digit favorites against Kentucky on a neutral court.

I was definitely thinking they'd beat the Bobcats, Wizards or Nets...They'll have three starters in the NBA next year...As far as van Gundy's (who I know coaches like shit) comments those NBA teams have 13 NBA players as he says actually have maybe one or two actual NBA caliber players the rest are just faces taking a place.

I agree. Kentucky might have 3 player's go in top 5 of next years draft. Anything can happen in 1 game. Now a series is different story.

Funny thing this subject came up at the OTB I go to last night. I was the only one who said Kentucky had a chance against the worst NBA team. 4 other guys hanging at the bar said Kentucky would get crushed.

Same ridiculous argument some make when they say a top-ranked college football team could beat one of the NFL's worst...

Not,

1st difference: Football is 11 on 11, Basketball is 5 on 5

2nd:What do Lebron, Kobe, Dwight Howard, Wilt Chamberlain, etc all have in common. The came straight from high school and had great rookie season's. Have there been any NFL player's that came straight from High School and did well their rookie season?

Lastly: Football is more of a power strength sport. Meaning it's more of a man's game.

No I don't believe this. It's easier for Pro Football to dominant College Football players. 1st reason is volume, 11 men against 11 college kids. This is a bigger advantage the Pro NBA teams have. Basketball is only 5 on 5.

My second point is that thru out history, boys have been able to play and suceed in the NBA whereas High school kids don't even think about going to the NFL straight out of High School.

So I don't think it's the same argument. More parity between College BB vs. NBA, compared to parity of college FB VS. NFL.

The arguments are different.

Ahhhh ok we agree then.... You're right there is more parity in basketball players than there are college vs pro football players in which the talent gap is much bigger.

Neither is likely to happen, but a college basketball team has a better shot at beating an NBA team than a college football team does in beating an NFL team.
Anyone that knows and have played sports understands this.
A team of scrubs can easily have a good game shooting the ball and beat a team of studs who have an off game.

What I meant when I said it's the same argument was that anyone who says a college basketball team can beat an NBA team is as crazy as the people who say a college football team can beat an NFL team....

Yeah, now we are on the same page. You can't compare the 2 sports when it comes to this argument.

When the NFL champs used to play the All Star Ncaa champs in Chicago in a preseason match up, the last year they played the college kids won the game. Last time it was ever played. Anyone go back far enough to remember that?

Wow, I didn't know this. I was thinking of the player who came out of Power H.S.

When I was 23 i really did take Greyhound to Vegas from Chicago. I went with $1,500, stayed at the Stardust for $20 a night. I was there for 49 days in November thru Christmas. Year was 1988.

I lost all my money and my mother wired money so I could come home on AMtrack.

I remeber I met some guy on amtrak that tried to convert me to christianity. Illini were you by any chance on Amtrak coming from Vegas to Chicago in December of 1988?
