that's funny, I have fond memories of the first one, but thought the trailer for the new one looked bad. Hopefully you're impression is closer to reality, since I'm sure I'll see it anyways!

The trailer looks epic. From what I've read, this film will be a new adaptation of the book, not a remake of the movie. Which means there will be no Mars in this movie.

I don't think they should remake any of Arnold's movies. He is such an ICON in the action hero genre. I do think the new Total Recall will be a good movie and probably bring in a buttload of cash but I just think Hollywood should just leave Arnold's movies alone.

This isn't a remake of Arnold's movie. This is an adaptation of a story by one of the greatest sci-fi writers of all time.

The writer in question hated science fiction and died penniless.

The writer in question hated science fiction and died penniless.

He's my favorite author of all time.. Here is a list of his work that has been translated into film :

Future films based on Dick's writing include the animated adaptation King of the Elves from the Walt Disney Animation Studios, set to be released in the winter of 2012; Radio Free Albemuth, based on Dick's novel of the same name, which has been completed and is currently awaiting distribution; and a film adaptation of Ubik which, according to Dick's daughter, Isa Dick Hackett, is in advanced negotiation.[47] Ubik is set to be made into a film by Michael Gondry.[48]
The Halcyon Company, known for developing the Terminator franchise, acquired right of first refusal to film adaptations of the works of Philip K. Dick in 2007. In May 2009, they announced plans for an adaptation of Flow My Tears, the Policeman Said.[49] It has been reported in 2010 that Ridley Scott will produce an adaptation of The Man in the High Castle for BBC, in the form of a mini-series.

[citation needed]

The penniless part is correct, but almost everything he did was Sci-Fi. Why would he write exclusively in a genre that he hated? I would be very interested in seeing a source that backed that up.

While away at college in 1985, I didn't have funds to go home for Easter, so I went to the bookstore and chose something that sounded interesting. I picked Phil k. Dick's "flow my tears, the policeman said". Took it back to the dorm and it blew me out of the water. I went on to read most everything he has written and, happily, watched story after story end up on the big screen. The man was an absolute genius. His plots and storylines will twist your mind like no other. I find it impossible to read the first few pages of "A scanner Darkly" without laughing out loud and getting sucked into the book everytime. The man was brilliant.
