While away at college in 1985, I didn't have funds to go home for Easter, so I went to the bookstore and chose something that sounded interesting. I picked Phil k. Dick's "flow my tears, the policeman said". Took it back to the dorm and it blew me out of the water. I went on to read most everything he has written and, happily, watched story after story end up on the big screen. The man was an absolute genius. His plots and storylines will twist your mind like no other. I find it impossible to read the first few pages of "A scanner Darkly" without laughing out loud and getting sucked into the book everytime. The man was brilliant.
