The sad thing about this whole thing is that people are forgetting that the Saints defense was actually pretty shitty last year. They would outscore teams not shut them down with their defense.
Williams is still an idiot though. This wasnt a hidden microphone, he knew he was being recorded. Telling your defense to hit the QB as much as possible is common place, but telling your team to take shots at a guys head when they are on the pile is way over the line. The bounty thing is overblown, but telling your players to go after someones head or knees is off limits and should be dealt with appropriately.
You will never see him in the league again
I still don't see what the big deal is. Suspend them for 3-4 games and be done with it. Guys are trying to hurt other guys every week. The Saints just put a bonus on doing it.
The big deal is you have coaches telling players to intentionally hurt other players as in take out their ACLs and "test" a guy's concussion. In a day and age of increased emphasis on player safety and eliminating concussions, you can't have coaches telling players it's ok to intentionally hurt other players.
This is these guy's livelihood and how they feed their families. You don't want to tear a guy's ACL and potentially cost him his career. That's ridiculous.
The fucked up thing is financially it would benefit the player with the bounty on them if they had a career ending injury because then he would get paid his full contract. Rarely does a player get to play out his full contract without being asking to take a pay cut or get waived.
