Let's be honest. This NYY club is an increasingly crumbling bunch who may find it hard to top 88 wins this year.

Texiera & Cano can't carry the rest of this bunch.

Granderson power stats revert to more normal 20-25 hrs

Swisher.....a middlin' offensive threat who plays plodding defense & is a statue on the bases.

Ibanez.....40 yrs old....plodding defense & a statue on the bases.

ARod.....a shell of former self and a statue on the bases.

Jeter....the second most overpaid .280/8hr/50 rbi guys in MLB and needing a backup to play defense at SS at least twice a week

Martin, Tex both statues on base

After ChubChub we get overrated Kuroda who built his resume mowing down the NLWest dinks.....Hughes & his less than 40 quality career sztarts....Andy "bartolo" Pettite....Mike Pineda & his approximately half seqason of "ace" status

Could this be first time in 20(?) Seasons that neither Bos or NY make postseason??

B'man--I am going to save this post so when the season ends and the Yanks are in the playoffs I can remind you of your assessment of the Bombers after a whole two games versus your Rays.

Wouldn't be surprised to see BOS finish 4th, team is old, injury-prone and lacks pitching depth...Yankees still have a somewhat decent starting rotation, at least not worse than last year paired with a strong (backend of) bullpen and their offense is still good: Granderson f.e. should still end up with his 25-30+ HRs being a lefty and playing 1/2 his games in Yankee stadium, Jeter is overpaid from a performance standpoint, but a .280 hitting SS would still be one of the better ones on his position...would expect them + Tampa to win around 90 games and play for the AL East, should be good enough to play for the WC against TEX/LAA...BOS/TOR on the other hand should get low to mid80s wins...just my 2 cents

PS: That slow crumbling bunch still scored runs in both their road games, although they were going against two of the "better" SPs in the game, so guys like Kuroda, Hughes or Pineda, who I'd expect to finish with ERAs around 4.1 should be good enough to keep them in almost any game and their offense+bullpen should do the rest. But with their SPs they will have a tough time in playoff series vs teams like LAA or TAM.

How is TomG? Did you have a good time in LV and in CR?
I've been back to Germany for 3 weeks now, but leaving for the Maldives next Wednesday (11 days) and afterwards intend to apply for a visa to Brazil because I don't want to wait another 4.5 months before going back there....

The one thing you can count on is them making in-season moves and taking on more salary.

Texeira, Cano, Swisher, A-Rod and Granderson are still offensive threats and you could do much worse than have five guys like that playing everyday. If they were in the Central, I could see them missing the playoffs but not in the East. TB looks to be their only threat but I'm not sold on them.

I bought Yanks under 94.5 here in Las Vegas. Pitching is a question mark and they are getting older in a lot of their former key positions. Mariano Rivera is now 42 years old and has already blown his first save and converted it to a loss. He makes $ 15,000,000 also ! Yikes

i think its going to be the same for the phillies, they are getting old also and with utley and howard out and the prospects of 2 years now not really fullfilling their expectations it could spell trouble this year

+1, like BOS I think they're getting old and lack depth in their bullpen. Top3 starters are great of corse, Worley was good, too. But Hamels tends to miss time every year, Worley has to prove that he can keep his level and if one of the top3 starters goes down they're really screwed...their offense without Utley+Howard will be very weak, both shouldn't be back before late May, possibly even June. Took the season win under and will also be looking to bet against them several times, esp. with their #4 or #5 starters or play the +1.5 RL.

Yawn.
2 games into a 162 game season, and Yanks are dead.

Rays on pace to outscore yankees 1200 runs to 650

yea i really wish they had an ace starter but they just don't have the money yet,but i like how this owner said he is building this team his way and keeping his young talent and just pick up here and there until they can get back to being competive

Doing great, bet lots of season win totals this year (overs & unders), so will have to see how this works out for me in the end (usually played only 2-4 every yr, but this year liked lots of them...).

Will def. try to make it out to LV in September, but not 100% sure anymore that I'll really make it: If I'm denied my visa, I'll be in LV for sure and then move on to Brazil mid September. But if I'm granted my student visa and get back to BRA in May/June already, I might stay there and do no travelling at all until June 2013.
