Bill Parcells will not coach the New Orleans Saints next season, according to a report Tuesday.
The ESPN report comes a day after the NFL upheld the season-long suspension it levied on Saints head coach Sean Payton and general manager Mickey Loomis.
It had been widely speculated that Payton was courting his longtime mentor to take over his role for the 2012 NFL season.
Payton was suspended for the entire season by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell for his role in the Saints' bounty scandal, which the NFL says was orchestrated by former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams. Williams, now with the St. Louis Rams, was suspended indefinitely by Goodell.
