Nats (Strasburg) -111 at Mets (Santana) +101
This line doesn't make sense to me. Both pitchers are rounding into form after having surgery but Santana is way more of a question mark. The surgery to repair Santana's shoulder was a lot more serious than the Tommy John surgery that Strasburg had. Countless players have returned from Tommy John surgery as good as new and Strasburg is far enough removed from the surgery that it should not be a problem. When Santana got hurt there were those that said he might never return and if he did he would never be the same pitcher. He pitched well in his first start back last week but he did not have the same velocity. His second start will be harder on his shoulder than his first and I don't expect him to pitch as well as he did opening day. Plus even if Santana was 100 percent healthy Strasburg is the better pitcher.
Even though the Mets are 4-1 their offense is showing signs of trouble. The heart of the order (Davis, Duda, and Bay) aren't hitting and David Wright has a fracture in his pinky that could prevent him from being effective, the doctors have said it does not require surgery and he will attempt to play through it.
This line just doesn't make sense to me. I was expecting the Nats to be around -140.
The pick: Nats -111
