I am always reading interviews with famous winning sports betters. Some focus on basketball, others baseball...even football. At some point they say..."I compared the sports book lines/odds to my own line/odds. The sportsbook had them at -6, but I had them at only -4, so I felt I had an edge" Or it might be odds, for example they had -180, but I had them at -105. How do you come up with your own lines? Is there a system? Are there standard numbers such as if a team is playing at home or on the road, it adds or takes away 3 points. Are there other standard numbers? Any input would be a monster help! I have searched on Google for a while now and not uncovered anything. Even though it seems to be a standard thing with big time successful sports betters.

Somewhat related, maybe they use a tool or site to compare odds across multiple books, then get in before the lines make big moves.

I'm looking to build something similar. See my thread here http://www.therxforum.com/showthread.php?t=1001066

Looking for your input to help me build this app. for comparing odds and I'll give you a copy. Basically if you had the power to have someone else build it on their own time and cost (which is me), what would you need in it? See my thread for details and add to this thread of the features or tools you'd like to see to compare odds across multiple books. Thanks.

J.
