Really strange. None of the Padres players knew what the hell was going on so the triple play is not very impressive. Bad officiating.

ump called it foul, then changed the call without even bothering to look down at the ball lying in foul territory. completely changed the outcome of the game. one of the strangest worst calls i ever saw.

i didnt see it but i had the padres.

i read play by play and was irate that sd didnt bunt
the guys over when they had 1st and 2nd with no one out.

this will make it worse when i see hilites

Guys, it was absolutely the right call. He bunted the ball, it started foul and went fair before it was picked up by the catcher. As we all know, the ball is not foul until touched by a player in foul territory.

However, the ump did call it foul at first and then signaled fair ball. It was a fair ball and the correct call.

yeah but you still have to beat them. Who knows, with Kershaw Billingsley and Lilly we can at least stay in the race.

I saw it. Ump's initial foul ball signal totally confused the runners. May have been the correct call, but imo the luckiest triple play ever and effectively ended any chance the Padres had of tying or winning the game.
