yes only a 10 can bust you, so the odds are in your favor to improve your hand. 2's n 3's are not a bad card for a dealer we tend to make alot of hands out of it. 4-6 showing for us, id even think about doubleing down on a possible bust if your aggressive

Depends..what is the count??

Basic strategy says to hit 12 vs 2.

I hit unless the count is greater than +2

Might as well double that 12 if u hitting.

I hate hitting that. And more times than not the person that has that chore at the table makes or breaks the hand for everyone.

Question is based on being random with no card counting.

Doubling down on a 12 vs anything isn't being aggressive - it is being border line retarded. If you want to be aggressive spread to more hands and play accurately on all of them.

Are you kidding? No wonder casinos make money hand over first at 21.

I have seen that too. Also seen people hit hard 18, etc.

Were they doing that just for attention or based on there strategy?

The guy a saw DD on the 15 yesterday knew better. He just wanted to show off on that hand.

Another question i have.

Lets say I have 2 cards equal to 7 and the dealer is showing a 6.

Yesterday I DD for less since it was not a slam dunk DD like having an 11 against a 5 or 6.

If I was betting 25 I threw an extra 10 for the DD for less.

I was told if I was going to DD I should DD for the whole amount.

I was DD based on the strength of the DD.
If it was a great DD I bet the whole thing.

If it was a not so great DD I would DD for less.

its not retarded at all vs a 4-6. a-9 (9 cards improve your hand) vs 10-k (4 cards) bust you. so unless you can count, which most people cant and those that can are normally blowing smoke up your ass, its not a bad play

You only DD when you have an advantage - such as 11 vs 6 or whatever. When you DD'ed on a 7 you were actually putting yourself at MORE of a DISADVANTAGE. There should never be a situation that you should double for less - never, never, never - all you are doing is diluting your advantage. No disrespect, but have you ever seen a BJ strategy chart? It will tell you exactly how to play every single hand and you can keep it at the table with you in plain sight.

Sorry - it's not retarded - just being beyond stupid I guess. A dealer showing a 4-6 is weak yes, but you having a hard 12 is weak as well. You will just lose more money in the long run by doubling down on a 12 vs anything.

Neither - they didn't know any better I am sure. If he wants to DD on a 15 he would be better served just lighting cigars with $100 bills. That would be showing off to me.

it makes alot more sense to split tens vs the dealer with a 5 or 6 if you are the only one at the table

THAT DONT MAKE NO SENSE TO ME.
It should not matter how many players are at the table.
The answer is always the same.

why if you are the only one at the table?

I have never understood the concept of if I make a play that isn't "buy the book", and other players get upset that the game is now bad, or has been thrown off.

hell me making a bone head play that changes the order of the cards they are dealt has a 45% of helping them and a 45% chance of hurting them and a 10% chance of not changing things one way or the other.
