I agree. They eat dogs, we eat other animals like cows and such. Cant really get mad at them from that perspective but it is a waste considering how domesticated dogs are and how many uses they have, its a waste to use them just for food.

You cant impose your culture on them. We whine when Muslims do it. Respect the differences.

Just because a "culture" does something, doesn't in and of itself make the
actions moral.

The Nazis had their culture, and the world had a lot to say about it,
and "imposed" on them.

I was surprised to see that pocket areas of Switzerland still eat dog meat. I don't think anybody will ever persuade the Chinese that eating "exotic" foods such as dogs, Tiger penis, and all kinds of other wild game, can be bad for you. The SARS virus started in Asia. And they finally found the culprit, which was their taste for civet cats. With the way they treat, kill and cook their animals, I can easily see another outbreak happening again.

The same old arguement that eating dogs should be just as acceptable as eating cows & chickens is 100% asinine.

There is absolutely no comparison between a chicken and cow vs an aminal such as a dog which is much more intelligent, loves human beings and is loyal to an owner no matter what.
You can kick your pet dog and it will still come back to you, honor you, and trust you.

Who's the REAL animals in some of these cultures?

A cow can be a a great and loving pet and so can pigs. Stop being emotionally attached to this issue and try to view it objectively.

No reason in debating with anyone who compares a cow to a dog.

At some point common sense comes into play.......

Should it come into play before or after emotions overtake everything

The conditions for beef, pig and bird livestock farms are as horrific as what was being done to the dogs in the article. The value of those animals is far closer to dogs than dogs are to people

American culture demands cheap snacks and good high protein meals, so we accept them. I don't know much about the subtleties of Chinese culture, but it is good to see they are making attempts to change their culture in ways we refuse to

The Daily Caller made note of a passage in Obama's book "Dreams from My Father," in which the president recounted some of his adventurous eats while living in Indonesia with his stepfather Lolo Soetoro from age six to 10.
"With Lolo, I learned how to eat small green chili peppers raw with dinner (plenty of rice), and, away from the dinner table, I was introduced to dog meat (tough), snake meat (tougher), and roasted grasshopper (crunchy)," part of the passage reads.

I was watching these Jamie Oliver TV specials called: Jamie Saves our Fowl and Jamie Saves Our Bacon and it showed the living conditions of the animals that go into food production and the treatment of the animals that are farm raised compared to the ones that aren't and these pictures of these caged dogs don't look too much different than the caged pigs and chickens.

With the chickens they breed special types of chickens that produce eggs rapidly and as soon as the male ones are hatched they kill them at birth. While the females are there to lay a specific quota of eggs for the rest of its short lived life. Then with the chickens they are fed steroids and housed in over crowded cages and the develop diseases in their legs from not being able to move around and roosting in piles and piles of shit and piss.

The pigs are housed in a cage where they always have to face forward and no room to move around to scratch itself or anything until they get fully developed for slaughter. These prison like conditions are especially cruel for a pig because they have dog like personalities and like to play and roll around.

All though these animals are breed strictly for slaughter and our consumption they still deserve the respect to live their short lives comfortably.

If in China Labrador and Golden Retriever is considered a delicacy right along with other animals that Americans wouldn't dare eat, they could at least be humane about the process.

You want to see something sick? Some group gunned down a herd of elephants in Africa via helicopter, and dismembered them one by one.

But I guess it's OK that we euthanize perfectly healthy dogs everyday just because they are strays.
