Youk’s hitch? He got hitched!
Maybe Red Sox [team stats] manager Bobby Valentine was on to something when he opined that his third baseman Kevin Youkilis [stats] wasn’t “physically or emotionally into the game as he has been in the past for some reason.”
Could that reason be because Youk and his pregnant fiancee, Julie Brady, sister of Patriots [team stats] QB/QT Tom Brady [stats], quietly tied the knot Thursday???
The couple, who have been dating for more than a year, swapped “I dos” in a small ceremony at their Weston home with only immediate family in attendance, according to the groom.
“It was definitely the greatest off day of my life,” Youk told WAAF [website] morning man Greg Hill. “It was a lot of fun, good times. I know there has been some rough times with baseball, but — I don’t usually talk about this — but it’s something good and I wanted to share.”
On hand to toast the bride and groom were brother-in-law Tom Brady and his bride, Gisele Bundchen. Although no pals or teammates were invited, Kevin said the couple are planning to do some sort of shindig later to celebrate with a bigger crowd.
Youk also shared that he told his new in-laws that he would skip all big Patriots playoff and championship games from now on. Bet they were relieved to hear that!
You may remember that the Sox cornerman and Julie were together at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis for Super Bowl XLVI in February. Apparently Kev is taking the rap for the rather tragic outcome there. In fact, the couple met at a party at Patriot Place after the Jets blew the Pats out of the playoffs two seasons ago.
Just a thought: Perhaps Youk could convince his fellow curse, aka Jinxele, to also skip the big ones!
Something else that we can’t let go by: When Kevin told Hill-man about the Big Day, he said he was “officially married.” Now, in Youk’s case making it official does make a difference since he wasn’t legally married to his first wife, Enza Sambataro, whom he wed in Mexico in 2008. Apparently, they didn’t file the proper paperwork to make it legal.
It’s unclear when the so-called Greek God Of Walks and Julie will become parents. But we know Mrs. Youk has a 5-year-old daughter, Jordan, from a previous relationship and that she and the Sox slugger get on famously.
“Kevin’s going to be an awesome dad,” one Red Sox insider told us.
