Yet another productive Monday last night, as while I was only 2-2 (With yet another loss by a half-run), the two wins were my two biggest bets, ultimately leading to a $100 profit on the evening. Not much action today, though, on this tough Tuesday slate, but I may have found a potential gem...

It's a crime the line is as low as it is, considering this is a matchup of two guys who are somewhat shelves of their former selves. However, I did predict Edinson Volquez would have a renaissance year of sorts upon his arrival in San Diego, and that's exactly what he's on track for if he keeps up his current 3.60 ERA and 1.27 WHIP pace. He's always had really good stuff and he's clearly putting it together again (29 Ks in 30 IP), as he was even showing signs of at the end of 2011.
Shaun Marcum has shown shades of his old self, albeit with a WHIP of over 1.30, but has been steady for the most part eating up innings and maintaining his usual high strikeout numbers. It was especially critical for him to get out of the gate in a positive way in order to put his disastrous 2011 postseason performance behind him, and it appears he's back to being the very solid regular season pitcher he's always been. I think we'll get quality efforts from both pitchers tonight at Petco.
