Do you ever buy tickets to sell for a profit?

I did it all the time in college... I have a friend that travels (far) for big games all during football season to scalp. And be able touse the money to go to the games... I only sold online. I think Craiglist among other factors have dramatically cut into profits...

Its been a couple years since I have, until now.

I did it for Game 3 of the Rangers vs Capitals.. and I am now 65$ below what I paid for them, and still haven't been able to get rid of them.

Think this is the last time I do this.

as a ex-season ticket holder for the chiefs i don't believe id say i did it to make profit on them.i went to 3 games a year and sold the rest but i only pumped up the ticket price about 30.00.i really don't consider that selling for profit as i see people selling their tickets for 3 to 4 times the amount, now thats for profit.i don't believe in that as i respect people that are struggling and want to go to a game but the prices are too high because people want to make a killing on their tickets.id rather just allow someone to go to a game for a decent price instead of being raped for them.thats just me though,im not greedy and like to help people out when i can

I havent paid for my Cardinals season tickets since they moved into the new stadium. I can sell 2-3 games per year online and make all my money back. I can sell a $25 face value to a Cowboys/Steelers type game for $150.

Does that make me a shitty fan? I guess in some peoples book. I like to think of it as smart I guess. I get to go to 5-6 NFL games 5 miles from my house for free.

That's how I use to look at it. Supply and demand. Although supply is losing right now lol.

I had season tickets to Panthers for several years and did the same to go to the games for free a couple times a year

Enjoy it while it lasts, I think eventually these teams will use a dynamic pricing model and cut the middle man (ticket agencies, scalpers, etc) out. Or atleast greatly reduce their impact

I just bought m83 tickets for a concert that is in October.
$30/ticket...plan on selling them for $75-$100 a pop.
These guys sold out in Dallas for a show that's in a couple of weeks fairly quickly. They then added another show for the following night that sold out in 3 mins.

On another note, I met a guy that flys around doing this stuff all football season. He flies to college and pro venues w/o tickets. Buys them and resells them in the same day...he seemed fairly shady.

I have a niece who went to C.U. (Bolder Co.) she was there when they had a great run in football. prior to that run no one went to CU games and students were allowed 4 tickets each. She signed up for 4 her fresh year, figuring she would go with a friend and her mom and dad.paid like 15-20 each. Midway thru her Soph year she was able to start selling them and making some ok $. By the end of her Sr year she was getting 2-3 hundred each for them, and selling all 4 tickets for all 6-7 home games every year.

The deal was, because she was already signed up for them as a fresh, they allowed her to continue to get 4 tickets, and pay the price she paid when she first commited to them.

I've often thought about doing this as a side business. I've made quite a bit buying and re-selling tickets on ebay and stubhub. I've made some off sports tickets, im a fsu season ticket holder, had 4 tickets for the Oklahoma game and sold 2 of them for 400. But, the best way to do it is for concerts by joining a hot artists fan club so you get access to tickets when they go on pre-sale and then get the floor tickets. For instance, I joined the Keith Urban fan club last year to get tickets to go to a concert. It ran about 30 bucks for a year membership. I got seats for myself and seats to sell. I ended up making quite a bit of money off the extra seats, and I did it several other times for concerts around the nation. If I didn't have a full time job, this is something I'd do more often.
