Can anyone explain to me why the wind always seems to be blowing in at double digits but the ball flys out so easy? Always has amazed me to see wind forecast then see the scoreboard blowing up....lol It seems like the wind blowing in creates some kind of jet stream blowing out:ohno: I know sounds crazy but ? Interested in hearing from people who know the stadium. THANKS

The prominent wind direction in Texas is S to SW. Thus the wind comes blowing in down the RF line. The going theory is that the row of windows on the Cuervo Club (an indoor club behind the home plate seats) keeps the wind from blowing through the stadium and instead spins it back out towards the field. When the wind is blowing out of the West, then LF becomes a big hot spot but RF and CF are very tough.

We rarely see an East wind. That is the type of wind needed to slow down offensive production at the ballpark.

Tommyjohn,

Didn't they put in those big billboards out there to make it less worse than what it was? If I remember correctly it was a launching pad before the billboards. I may be wrong, but it seems I remember that to be the case.

I was there for both Canseco's and Pujols' homerthons.

Go Rangers! It's been a great 2 years and looking for more. Been going to Ranger games since the Triple A stadium next to the interstate.

Good Luck To All.

The billboards out in CF above the offices have been there since they opened in 1994. You can see them in this video of the first opening day at the stadium.

I'm certainly not a wind expert, but I doubt that the slanted roof over home run porch in RF helps out much. That only serves to flow air down into and out of the ballpark at even lower levels.

Don't assume people in charge know what they are d

For those who haven't had an opportunity to visit, one heck of a nice stadium.

Yes it is.

However late in the summer when there is no wind? It is a hot stuffy mother f'er. Then again ALL of Texas is a hot stuffy mother f'er.

I got home from a game last summer about 11p or so and it was still 99. Of course nothing was like last summer.

Hope Yu D doesn't flee back to Japan when he steps on the mound one evening in Aug. haaaaaaaaaaaa.
