TheRx has really gone downhill the last few years, seems like everyone here is looking to follow and not cap games or learn anything. I really hope this thread gets more participation, its sad whats become of this place..

O.K enough of that.. You can JUMP IN ANYTIME... EVERYONE is INVITED and the more information the BETTER!!! So any informatiion is useful, even if you do not like the game, still please offer your input..

This thread will be for baseball games played on:
5/4-5/17
will be starting new threads every 13-14 days instead of daily. Believe its better that way..

If you have no idea on whats going on here, this thread will help you understand
http://www.therxforum.com/showthread.php?t=835866

We are working together dropping thoughts on teams we follow "very" closely. Be it our informed opinons, key stats, teams state of mind, hot/cold bats, overused bullpens, injuries, weather or any information that you feel will be useful.. When you follow a team very closely, you get a good feel for them..

God Forbidding I will be creating these threads all season.. We should have some great info in them and have lots of fun too.

Atlanta now 15-11 overall 5-5 Last 10 losing 1 with Colorado 12-12 overall 5-5 Last 10 winning 1. Atlanta scored 3 runs or fewer in five of six games in the homestand and have failed to score more than 4 runs per game in the last five road games. Carlos Gonzales is .478 5 HR's 14 RBI's in a six game home hitting streak and .400 4 HR's 5 Doubles 13 RBI's vs Braves in a nine game streak also. Hudson is 1-0 3.60 ERA this season for Atlanta with his first start last Sunday after returning back to action from injury. Hudson is 4-2 in eight starts vs Colorado but winless 0-2 7.77 ERA at Coors Field. Moscoso is 0-1 10.80 ERA this season for Colorado after extremely rough first outing. Moscoso had 21 starts with Oakland last season and has never faced Atlanta. Helton and Giambi also have good numbers vs Hudson.

Braves were down 5-0 after the first inning and pulled out an extra inning win last night in Colorado. On Kentucky Derby Day with many people thinking of horses, Colorado will start an old sentimental horse in Jamie Moyer. Moyer was the oldest MLB player to ever win a game at age 49 on April 17 2012. Moyer is 1-2 3.14 ERA this season with backing run production as a hurdle Moyer can't seem to clear. Colorado has only scored 5 runs in Moyers outings. Minor for Altanta got shelled last time out where he gave up a career high seven runs. Minor had only yielded 3 runs or fewer in his previous outings. Minor is 2-2 4.68 ERA for the year. Colorado overall has plated 56 runs in the last 7 games while Atlanta has had 19 hits for the second time in three days. Hinske is steeping up his offense for the Braves going 10 for 13 in his last three starts. Gonzales went 0-5 last night but don't expect him to be quiet today. Source: SportingNews MLB Preview.

GEEZ..I go away for a few days and Mariano trips shagging balls and may have a career ending injury.Them Met shortstop Tejeda falls running to first on a bunt attempt and is put on the DL..are you kidding????

TUESDAY

METS/PHILS..the amazing Mets beat the phils as Jordany valdespin blasts a 3 run homer off the papel"bum" himself..I hope he has a lot more key hits in his bat because it looks like he'll be getting more opprtunities now that Tejeda is on the DL,.it looks like Justin Turner will be filling in at short..so much for defense..To top it off the mets are starting "old man" Battista tonight. He's looked horrid..maybe we'll get lucky and it will be a rain out

THE PLAYS:
$100:
PHILS -.5 -125 FIRST 5.If he lasts Battista will give up atleast 3. Even to this shit lineup

$50:
First inning run ..yes -115
PHILS/METS O 4.5 -105

YANKS/ TBAY..Should be a great series. Hopefully not a rain out.Yank bats have been slow to come around...so can't jump on them..make a small play on tampa

$50:
TAMPA +108 FIRST 5 ONLY

I enjoy being able to contribute and look foward to providing information that might help other RX Posters. Keep the faith Gyno. Tonight at Wrigley Field features the Battle of Double D's. No not a woman's bra size which actually be would be kinda neat but Dempster vs Delgado. Dempster has 0.95 ERA but is 0-1 this season and 0-7 in his last 13 outings duely to his lack of run support from his fellow Cubs. Chicago's offense has only produced 2.2 runs per game for Dempster when he draws duty. Dempster is 1-2 in five starts vs Atlanta with a 2.52 ERA as a Cub but only 2 for 18 overall in his career in this mathcup with the # of losses vs this opponent tied for the most in the NL. Delgado is 2-3 5.14 ERA and now has lost three straight starts. Delgado is 1-1 6.10 ERA in two road starts even with an opponent batting average of .216 and has never face the Cubs. Delgado still struggles with Base On Balls Issues but does bring a extremly tough fastball than usually results in his share of K's on the day. LaHair is .409 with 6 HR's in 12 games and has reached base safely in 25 games for the Cubbies. Heyward is .435 with 4 HR's and 10 RBI's in his last 7 games at Wrigley Field. Weather played a part last night in some damp cold conditions and any improvement tonight will be a blessing. Delgado will issue his quota of walks so a Chicago big inning is not out of the question tonight if Cubs can capitalize. Michael Bourne played outstanding with the glove last night against the Ivey but Braves need to find some offense on Dempster who has struggled with them in the past.

Say Goodbye to Wrigley Field Chipper Jones. Today marks the last time Jones will play at Wrigley Field during his career. Wrigley has not been kind to Chipper who only has .220 average there and now must face Malcolm who Chipper is 0-6 against. Malcolm is 3-2 5.13 ERA but has only yielded one run in his three consecutive wins after a 0-2 13.50 ERA start. Malcolm is 1-1 1.58 ERA vs Braves his lowest ERA vs any opponent. Hudson got shelled for 7 runs last time out for Atlanta but us 2-0 3.94 ERA vs Cubs in 5 career starts and 1-0 2.91 ERA in three starts at Wrigley Field. Bourne has a 12 game hit streak going but is only 7 for 30 vs Malcolm. Atlanta has only scored four runs in two games after scoring 44 in their previous five games. Atlanta would love to take back to back winning series momentum into St. Louis but Chipper Jones last day at Wrigley might be spoiled if Malcolm can continue his one run trend. Hudson from past performances at Wrigley should bounce back but Braves will have to find the lead at some point to allow bullpen to try to secure the save and the game moving on to St Louis.

Dodgers were poorly managed last night.. Mattingly asking Uribe to bunt in 8th then with zero outs and two men on base he bunts Ellis with Kemp on deck but which makes it one out and we all knew Bochy would walk Kemp to get the lefty vs lefty situation with Either.. Javy Lopez is the best vs Left handed batters..

bad moves last night.. oh well I still won my bet

Giants have had hitting issues for years now (and still found ways to win). Their biggest issues right now is fielding. They're just not the type of team that can butcher plays and still expect to compete. 33 errors in 29 games prior to last night is horrid. last night bochy threw match-ups to the wind and went with a defensive first lineup and the defense actually came through (4 double plays, 2 of which were HUGE). i'm hoping we've seen the end of conor gillaspie and his weak stick and noodle arm as the starting 3b. he's just not a major leaguer right now, maybe ever. he reminds me of bill mueller, except y'know, not good.

can't really ask for anything more from a 5th starter than what we saw from vogelsong last night.

the lineup isn't scaring anyone but, sadly, i've seen worse from the giants in recent years. brett pill and brandon belt need to play more, and at the same time, if for no other reason than to find out if they're fit for the job.

i'm still not worried about the bullpen. yes, they've lost depth (with wilson and affeldt) but the most valuable pieces are still in place-- lopez, romo, casilla. it looks like romo is back to dominating; back to having pinpoint control with his frisbee slider in his last couple outtings. i like how bochy let lopez pitch to 2 batters in the 9th last night before bringing casilla in to finish... and i have full faith that bochy is going to maximize the value of his relievers; even more so now that he's less inclined to stick to the conventional bullpen structure now that wilson is down. if you haven't figured, i'm of the belief that the closer position is overrated/misused in baseball nowadays. as mentioned before, my only concern is depth... but affeldt will be back eventually and they still have young closer-in-waiting heath hembree down in fresno. losing mota to "cough syrup" is not a bad thing. he was stinking it up so far this season as the long man (5.06 era/1.6 whip in 10.2 innings) and even resorted to quick pitching at times (showing that even he had lost all confidence in his abilities). as was the case with brian wilson, it's a positive that he found his way off the team before doing more significant damage.

METS/PHILS..IT'S AMAZING THE METS WON THE FIRST 2..Now in game 3 i'm going to look at the total. Surprisingly both went over despite neither team tearing the cover off the ball
Tonight the mets go to third string catcher as Josh Thole suffered a concussion during Mondays game.. Huge cliff lee fan who should give met lefties fits

THE PLAY:$50

PHILS/METS U 3.5 First 5 only..neither pen to be trusted

TBAY/YANKS..Have to like big texan Neimann against Phelps. Again neither team has it's bats going full force and weather can be iffy in NYC,,still I can't see Phelps giving up less than 3

THE PLAYS:$50 ea

TBAY +120 FIRST 5
OVER 5 RUNS -115 FIRST 5 ONLY

Chipper Jones went 0-4 in his last game at Wrigley Field. Braves had a great opportunity to carry some momentum in St Louis tomorrow but dropped yesterday's game and the series to the Cubs by only scoring four runs in three games and shut out in the finale. Atlanta pitching is still solid for the most part but bats have gone cold and now Atlanta may struggle severely in St Louis if some offense can't be found. Maybe Braves can use the travel day to re focus and nurse some nagging injuries as Atlanta will need a healthy roster vs the Cardinals. Disappointed in outcome of Cubs series but moving on in hopes Braves bring a intense game face into this weekend series that hopefully will result in more runs scored than in Chicago.
