I guess I'm part of the 10 % ! The PGA has so many talented players that if you're only interested in watching Tiger play, you're not a real fan of great golf. Tiger played awful but most of the field played some great golf on a great course. Rory, Simpson, Moore are making some shots that are are good as I've ever seen. I am well aware that people like to watch the legends play in any Sport. When I grew up it was Mantle, Mays, Arnie, Gale Sayers, Johnny Unitas,Wilt, Ali, etc. However as hard as it is to watch these legends pass the torch, every legend will have to face that day. I'm not sure whether Tiger's day has already come or not but right now there are quite a few golfers out there that are playing better than He is. I have been making good $$ wagering against him in matchups and I will continue to do so until He shows me He's back ! GL

I guess i am with you Kermit. Watch Golf constantly when i'm not playing it. I don't even hardly watch if he is in it because kelly Tilghman is going to show nothing but Tiger and i would like to see someone else.

You are so right. Wasn't it great yesterday to be able to see so many great shots by so many different players. However I always enjoy the interviews with Tiger after each Tournament as He tells everyone how close He is to putting it all together. He hit some shots on Friday that went so far left that I thought I was watching a video of some of my shots !:ohno:

If you have most of the top players playing in a tournament I will watch.... I get the Tiger interest, but the depth the tour has now is really getting to be top notch

Agreed. They do this as long as Tiger is playing, even if he's off the first page of the leaderboard. It's like trying to watch a MLB game and constantly getting Yankee highlights/look ins shoved down your throat.

Ratings bear this out. They are much higher when he is in the chase on a Sunday.

5 times what they will be today. tiger is the pga tour.

Really ? The PGA Tour will be just fine when He hangs up his clubs. For a lot of people, It will be a lot more enjoyable to watch. Who needs profanity, throwing clubs and other antics both on and off the golf course ? I don't !

Nobody talks about the tour unless Tiger is involved. Ratings are low without him, and they will lose sponsorships after he is gone.
We only bring up golf when a major is in play or something involving Tiger happens on this forum. Yet when Tiger is in contention Sunday afternoon you got a 10 page thread going.

Nobody cares about golf unless Tiger is in the hunt outside of the hardcore fan base which is tiny.

Not for nothing but nobody outside of Palmer, Nicklaus, and Tiger are responsible for the bigger purses and popularity of the game...without these three guys, the tour would not have been more popular than it is now...you are right when you say that it might be more enjoyable to watch, but without these 3 gentlemen hardly anybody would have been watching...

Those 3 certainly are at the top of the list but you are leaving out a few aren't you ? I will not go into the oldies like Hogan, Byron and Hagen etc. However Trevino, Player, Watson, Snead all had their share of followers. Also it's always a cliche in all sports to give credit to icons of the Sport and ask " Where would the Sports be if it wasn't for Babe, Wilt, Magic, Jordan etc. ". I think Golf would still be a very popular Sport regardless as it's one of the Sports that even old duffers like you and I can still play. There are golf courses everywhere... even here in the arid desert of nevada. I noticed that there were several golf Tourneys this year that had record TV viewers that Tiger didn't even play in. Fans will get used to not seeing Tiger's name at the top of the leader's board and find another Star. They always do in every sport. Golf is a game everyone can play and they don't need 40 people to play the game.
Sorry but it takes time to get over the fact that Tiger is no longer the best but life goes on. Sorry to break the news to you VD, but Tiger will not win a Major anytime soon. Move on Pal !
