I watch most of my sports at the Sportsman's Lodge due to location. Sometimes at Chubbs during football season. Just curious where everybody watches here in good old Costa Rica.

Sleep Inn is a good spot for football. A bit under the radar. Has a walk-up book which is nice.

Time Out Tavern in Escazu allll the way. I live way out by the airport so I don't go to San Jose often, but if I'm in town for sports, ToT is the preferred destination.

I have heard a lot about TOT, but never been there as I live downtown. May have to make it over some this coming football season. Have heard more than one person mention Sleep Inn as a good spot.

So what was up with the Pirate's Club? I would hear it is open, and then it is not. Several people told me that it had a great setup and could be a prime spot for watching sports.

My advice to you is to start drinking heavily.

MNF at the Pirate Club is spot on VD. Some great times. Not sure that's the case anymore though. At this point they should just sign the deed over to JW.

I met a guy a while back who had been trying to help promote the Pirate Club, but got the impression from him that the owners just had their own ideas about things. I believe this guy could have gotten the place going. It is always nice to watch sports in a spot with some lovelies running around!

If the guy is who I think it is, the owner was right to ignore him. Go on a Friday night some week. The place is packed and a lot of fun.

Chi Chi's in Escazu is great to watch games, all sports. Also good is El Estribo in Santa Ana.

Heard good things about Chi Chi's too! Where is that located in relation to Walmart? What kind of crowd do you get there? Would like to find a non-gringo place for watching soccer too. Just not the same vibe as it is in bars with fans.

Let's get down to brass tacks. How much for the ap

Chubbs downtown, Estribo Sports in Santana with the retractable roof and Time Out all have the best television setups/capabilities and are the only three places I would seriously consider watching any game of significance.

Jack, from Walmart to Chi Chi's is a straight shot up the hill on the main road into Escazu. At the cruce where Scotiabank is, continue straight up, don't go right toward Santa Ana. From there maybe 1 km up, on your left side, just before the curve where you must go right. A block before you get to Chi Chi's you will pass the Argentine steakhouse Novilla Alegre on your right side.

Parking is easy unless there is a big soccer game. Then indeed the place is packed with locals and it is a great atmosphere to watch Real Madrid/Barcelona for example. The owners Albert and Danny are great guys, Americans from Miami of Cuban descent. Bilingual and welcome everyone.
