Not enough pitching.

They might go to the World Series, but won't win it.

you're probably right. Don't know about the Braves though. But, anybody remember last year in game 6 of the WS where Hamilton hit that 2 run HR in the 10th and he said afterwards, "God told me I'd hit a HR because I haven't hit one in a while but he also told me we wouldn't win." Probably the reason he wasn't happy at all after hitting the HR. I agree Texas is the sexy pick but wont win. But I can't tell the future in baseball. only NFL. GL to you.

They have more pitching than 80% of the teams in MLB.

yeah but if you can eliminate the teams who don't have a chance to win then that makes it a lot easier to pick the one who will. just sayin

I was not aware of this.

I was looking at their starters and was not impressed with what they had done.

I don't think Darvish is a true #1 yet.

Derek Holland 4.43

Matt Harrison 5.11

Colby Lewis is doing well, but he is hittable.

Neftali Feliz unproven as a starter. Never pitched more than 69 innings.

A lot of innings the past two seasons with two trips to the WS.

That is not a championship rotation.

I agree with what you say. After all, we are only a month into the season. I think only time will tell i.e. will Feliz be able to hang in there after the all star break or fall apart? (similar to Ogando starting last year). Will Darvish stay good? Etc. Yes, there are a couple of question marks with their rotation. However, their bullpen is very solid.

Another problem is they have too many right handed bats. Power right handed pitchers generally can get through those type of lineups.

I think the stats at the end of the year will show that their starting rotation was better the past two years.

I'm no Texas fan, but it's easily a top 5 pitching staff in the AL. Easily.
Add that to a very very deep bullpen and the bats that they have, pretty easy to see why they're one of the favorites to win it all.

Before this thread is put to rest.

This team will be a carbon copy of the 2001 Mariners.

#1 in runs scored, #1 in ERA. Lost in ALCS.

Like the 2001 Mariners, they don't have the shut down starting pitchers necessary to carry them through the postseason.

My pick to win the AL is the White Sox.

See you at the end of the season.

Not sure if you're right about the Rangers pitching, but time will tell.

I don't think them being stacked with righties in the lineup is much of a problem though..at least it wasn't last year and hasn't been this year so far. Remember, Kinsler, Andrus, Young, Beltre, Cruz, Napoli...these guys aren't just your average MLB right handed batters
