We bought a new construction house last year, they laid down the grass seed. This year, it seems like its ALL weeds. My "grass" grows so fast because all it is is weeds. 50% of my yard are "clovers" which whatever I can deal with, but in the 5+ times I've mowed my yard this year this has spread at an incredible rate.

What is this???
I literally have 100s of these in my yard now, every time I mow, I guess it spreads them.

The other ones that are just starting to spread, probably have 10+ of these.. Hmm I couldnt get picture to load, will try in next post.

SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO GET RID OF THEM, AND HOW TO GET A "HEALTHIER" YARD??

Our yard is a wreck, literally could use 10k of landscaping. Completely underestimated this when looking at new houses.:>(

I know it varies but what should I expect to pay? Always thought paying for lawncare seemed extravagant because I don't mind working in the yard. Only thing I hate is weed eating. I have some tilling I need to do to, that I am not looking forward too.... But the rest I don't mind particularly if we are talking $500+ for something Icould do

Personally recommend doing it yourself, will cost more but you will get results. last year for the first time ever i let scotts do it and cancelled Very light application of product... my neighbors all pay to have there lawns done but yet mine looks best. VIP use all scotts products, they have a 4 step program... when applying double the drop by crossing in both directions. Basically like a checker board.. Also apply a direct feeding fertilizer 2x a year, late spring (now) and late summer..

get on a 4or 5 step lawn fertilizer program. Easy to do yourself. I prefer fertilome.

Already missed step 1 but step 2 is weed and feed. Read the directions.

If you have questions PM me.

Anywhere from 275-400 a yr...200 more for rotatill once a yr

sounds like you have hard soil (clay, maybe)...the Pros's know...

Trust me, I built my house 6yrs ago and the lawn care was one of the best investments w/ the new sod and sprinklers....

My lawn looks like a Super Bowl Grass field...

All I do is cut/trim and edge....OH, and drink a lot during this step...haha

Get a few free quotes...can't hurt...

My yard is a total mess; full of weeds, crabgrass, roots from old trees. I got some quotes to dig it all up, rototill it, add sprinklers, re-sod. It's going to cost me $6K. This is on top of $20K that I just spent getting the house painted, new windows, new deck, new electric panel. Houses are a pain in the ass. I can't afford all this crap. But I got the ugliest yard in the neighborhood and its embarassing.

Thinking I should move out and buy a condo.

Roundup kills everything including the grass. Great if you want to kill and reseed. However I use Weed Be gone and it works great for killing all the broad leaf weeds. It comes with a sprayer that you hook up to your garden hose and you just put your thumb on the air intake and it comes out very easily. It's best to do after a rain or after your water your lawn and the sun is coming out. I do it again after a month and your lawn will be pretty much weed free and your lawn loves it.

Would be cheaper to rent a skid steer rip it all up and plant new grass

You're forcing it man. You don't have to start threads just to start them on your shift. A quick five minute search on Google will tell you how to take care of your weeds.

LoL.

I have no idea what those weeds are. I've searched before and couldn't figure out what the the weeds were. Plus Im confident I am going to find the right answer here.

I've actually cut down on OT help me threads since becoming a mod. I was kind of infamous for them before. 75k users, there is someone that knows something about everything. Particularly with a subject this general that I am sure many people have experience with.
