Will Rhymes collapsed into the arms of his first base coach after being hit by a 95mph pitch during the 8th inning of Wednesday’s game.
Rhymes was hit by a 2-2 fastball from Red Sox reliever Franklin Morales directly on the forearm. He immediately went down in pain, but he managed to make his way down to first base. Shortly after reaching base, Rhymes took a few steps into foul ground where he passed out in the arms of coach George Hendrick.
Surprisingly, X-rays were negative and Rhymes is considered day-to-day. The team
believes he passed out because of an “adrenaline rush” after being hit.
