INDIANAPOLIS -- The Miami Heat canceled practice and their media availability one day after a blowout loss in Game 3 to the Pacers.
The team gave no immediate reason for Friday's decision, which was announced on the Heat's media telephone hotline.
Per NBA rules, teams are not required to meet with the media if they don't hold practice. The Pacers also will not hold practice. Game 4 is Sunday in Indianapolis.
The Heat lost 94-75 Thursday night and trail Indiana 2-1 in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
Miami's latest defeat was magnified by a sideline confrontation between star guard Dwyane Wade and coach Erik Spoelstra. The two exchanged words during one of the worst playoff games of Wade's career. He scored just five points on 2-of-13 shooting and after the game refused to discuss what happened with Spoelstra.
Wade has been slowed by lingering injuries -- he is 10 for 35 (28.6 percent) from the field in the last two games, both Miami losses -- and needed treatment in recent days for knee and leg soreness. The Heat also are without power forward Chris Bosh, who has an abdominal strain.
"It's obvious he wasn't himself," LeBron James said after Game 3. "Does he want to play better? Of course. He's one of the best players in the world."
Wade downplayed the potential of having a serious injury, though he did snag his right hand on the net trying to make a block in the first half.
Guard Mario Chalmers fell on his wrist late in the game and had an X-ray, which came back negative. He wore a large ice bag after the game, and the Heat said he'll be re-evaluated Friday.

Information from The Associated Press and ESPN reporter Rachel Nichols was used in this report.

If these guys lose this series, I've got to wonder if they force Riley and Spoelstra out and Phil 'Vulture' Jackson swoops in. These are the situations that he looks for.

I guess we'll see if Miami has any heart on Sunday. LeBron is supposed to be an all time great, but my clearest memories of him are choking when he needs to come up big during the playoffs. IMO he flat out quit vs. the Celtics a couple of years back. Guy has to step up his game if he wants to win anything. That stupid song and dance about "Not one, not two, not three . . ." is going to haunt him and the rest of his crew for a long time if he doesn't start winning. Of course at this point, whoever comes out of the West looks like they are going to be heavy faves to win it all.

when they have an extra day off in the series, they always have a day of rest from practice/media.

espn reported that if the heat lose not only this series but fail to win it all that two of the big 3 would be moved.lebron is not the one being moved either,it will be wade and bosh.so many people said when this group got together that it was not a good fit and it looks like they were right on.

i was one who did not want to see these 3 on the same team because i thought they would be dominate but how wrong i was and i also did not want them to succede either.i would love for nothing more to see the pacers take out the heat

It it ridiculous to say that the "Big Three" are not a great fit together. One of them is missing now and the problem has to do with the rest of the team not being able to score. Haslem used to be able to score 10 points a game with his baseline jumper. He isn't scoring.
