Yes, this looks like it's the square game of the weekend, but Verlander against this Pirate lineup almost seems unfair. Especially in the first 5 innings vs. Charlie Morton. With inter league play underway, this game seems like your AL-NL mismatch of the day. The ML is way too rich, and the Tiger bullpen is dicey (the Pirates BP is way better). With out a couple of hitters in the middle of the Pirate lineup, it's almost AAA in how bad they can be. Their pitching has kept them afloat. Charlie Morton is probably their least effective starter. 2 units Detroit (1st 5 innings)

One unit on NY Mets. ML. Toronto has been losing the first game of almost every series. It's like they don't wake up until game 2, then they win. Watch out tomorrow! Most of the Blue Jays have never hit off of Niese, who is having a solid year. Romero is the blue Jay ace, but lately has lost command of his good stuff. A few of the Met hitters are hot. Neither team has a reliable BP. Like the + money on this game.

Two units Texas -1. If the Rangers get up for a game, or a game has extra meaning, they win. Tonight's game opens against their state rivals, the Astros. Last year, Texas was about to get the 3 game sweep when Feliz gave up 4 runs in the 8th inning to blow it. I think Feliz will want to show his best stuff to erase that awful memory. Besides, Texas has a better bullpen. Wandy R. has pitched well this year, but many of his games were against much weaker lineups than Texas has. The Astros will also likely slide back to their losing ways as the year goes by. Starting tonight.

One unit Minnesota. ML. Estrada has given up 6 HRs in last 3 starts, while SCott Diamond has not given up a run in last 2 starts. Twins actually beat Tigers and Blue Jays for 4 games in last 2 weeks, showing some life. Brewers just seem to disappoint so often in games they should win. Their hitting continues to be mostly mediocre.

As I watch the AL manhandle the NL tonight it makes me want to load up Oakland and LAA. Especially the Angels. Small on them...

7-3 day, + 5 units. Would have been better if Angels showed up. Maybe their small ball style does fit in the NL. Haren was fine- but they made Stults look like an all-star.

YTD: 58-46-2, + 26 units

10-4 last two days, and am really liking this inter-league weekend.
