You dont have to make a big produciton thanking him for his service....just send a beer his way and give the nod...

the thanking sometimes can become uncomfortable and awkward...

You know what's funny? Just today I was at 7-11 and there was a bum outside asking for money and I said I didn't have cash and kept going to the car and he yelled at me, "I went to war for guys like you."

I just found it hilarious and got in the car.

Before my last deployment, my buddy and I were sitting at a bar and he was asking me some basic questions about where/when etc. We ordered some nachos and when we got the bill, the beers were the only thing we had to pay for. The bartender said a guy at the end of the bar overheard our conversation and paid for our food. A very nice gesture and not expected.

i respect the millitary and what they do, but when i was in college a few years back we use to be near a millitary base (fort riley), which is a rather large base, and I hate to say it, all of the soliders I meet were pretty much douche bags. Always starting fights in aggieville (bar district) whether it was with other soldiers, students, or random town people. Always had to have numerous mp's out in the bar district with weapons on them to police the area along with regular cops. numerous friends dated soldiers while in school and almost all of them had physical abuse in the relationship. i honestly think the mind set of the millitary and its lifestyle ruins alot of people from being able to interact in a normal society settings

When ever I see a Vet I thank them for all they have done and continue to do.

Somtimes you can be around a Vet and not even know they are a Vet.

You have to pay attention.

Sometimes the cat hair on their white coat gives em away.

Other times it doesn't.

Unfortunately this is true in most military towns..believe me though when they pull this shit in town and get caught the punishment back on base is usually more harsh than you can imagine
