Watching Ohio St. at Michigan from 1979 on the Big Ten Network. Ohio State nose tackle was 6-1, 218 pounds. Nearly every offensive linemen was 240 pounds. Art Schlichter was the OSU QB. Anthony Carter was a freshman WR for Mich.No onscreen clock or scoreboard. Scores of other games are periodically flashed on the screen. No red first-down lines. Keith Jackson and Ara Parseigien are announcers. Takes me back in time.

Players were nowhere near the size they are now. In 1988 there were only 8 NFL players that were over 300lbs. Now each team has at least 8!

And Keith Jackson would make a comment about each of the scores: "Oh lookee here. Yale going for an undefeated season but Harvard has other ideas. The Crimson up 13-0. And I heard they were going to fill the Yale Bowl today."
I was still in college at the time and was just beginning to bet, but it had to be maddening to have to wait 20 minutes or so for score updates and you never knew when they would pop up.

Saw some of it last night too. I just thought how much the announcers sounded the same as if they called a game today. I miss Keith Jackson. Would be fun to hear Keith Jackson call one NFL game the same as he would college. Whoa Nellie!
