Saturday was a bitch. No regrets except not betting Detroit at the ML or -1. In both that game and the Arizona game, my play was 1 out from winning the 5 inning bet. Montero hits a HR, Frazier(of Cinn) hits a single, and there goes a great day. 4-5, -1.4 units for the day. YTD: 107-95, + 29.1 units.

As for the Cleveland/ St. Louis game, who'd expect Lohse to pitch like that?

AL-NL are 14-14, so I'm expecting AL to win better than .500 Sunday. Plays to come.

White Sox again: Chicago has the best offensive stats playing in day games this year. They're at home vs. a righty Harrell(Sox hit righties well), whom has been roughed up in his last 2 starts- 11 IPs- 19 hits and 13 runs. Only 5 Ks in his last 3 starts. Also, 2 of the Astros have sat this weekend, at times, due to flu-like symptoms. That can spread through the team. I've got the feeling they just want out of town and enjoy tomorrow's day off. Humber has had 2 atrocious starts this year, but otherwise has been steady. Two units -1

Boston: Washington struggles vs.lefties, and Boston still has a much better hitting team than the Nats. Strasburg and Gio Gonzalez are a great 1-2 punch for them, but I don't expect it'll happen again that Boston will get shut down. Lester has been down this year, but it's hard to see why. I'm counting on a good game from him, at home, in which he tries to avoid an embarrassing sweep. -1 one unit.

Twins: The Cubs are dead last offensively in the majors vs. LHPs, hitting .223 with 7 HRs. Liriano seems to have found his better release point and has pitched 2 great starts in a row. He is a flake so this is no guarantee. Dempster is a much more consistent pitcher, but has about an 4.50 ERA in his last 5 starts. The Cubs also have a bullpen that is unreliable. Considering how well the Twins are hitting and have won 9 out of their last 11, I like them to complete the sweep. Gardenhire has them thinking they're a competitive team. One unit -1.

Baltimore. I might be truly nuts going against Lee, but with Jason Hammel on the mound for the Orioles, it is their version of an ace. He always keeps them close. The Orioles are decent vs. lefties. Phillies are not a good team in day games, and I still contend they are slumping. Hitting against Arrieta and Hunter the last 2 days is like free candy. This will be a close game, with Baltimore getting the edge in bullpens. ML one unit.

My one NL team- Marlins (god help me). Shields is not himself this year- too many HRs and not liking to work with any of his catchers. Tampa defense is awful at times, the lineup has some great days, but otherwise gets shut down completely. Sanchez should be able to avoid the sweep. One unit ML.

Texas: One unit-1. Ogando has very good command of great stuff at an early age. About time they got him out of the bullpen. Linecum has pitched against some weak teams this year, and still is getting hit hard. Velocity is down, pitches are up, and poor command- leading to more walks. Has given up 4 HRs in last 3 starts, and I expect Texas might 1 or 2 tomorrow.

LAA: Angels have owned the Rockies so far and I got a feeling this sweep will happen. I also predict Pujols will break his HR-less spell vs. RHP Friedrich. The Angels,as a team, might be staring to heat up, and Colorado's pitching makes it that much easier. Santana has been poor of late, with too many BBs, but he's due. And the Rockies hitting has cooled down, they are 15-17 at home and have the weaker BP. One unit ML.

St. Louis: -1/2 first 5 innings. one unit. Joe Kelly has been outstanding in his last 3 AAA starts. He throws high mid 90s with a natural sink which induces ground balls. In AAA, he has only yielded 2 HRs and 21 walks in 72 innings. New pitchers, more times than not, don't flame out in their MLB debut, but rise to the occasion. If you have read earlier threads, I am no fan of Ubaldo. He is capable of a good start now and then- but he is more likely to get hit hard. Too many walks, too many HRs, and a bad attitude to boot. St. Louis hits RHP very well. It's hard for me to take another NL team, but St. Louis I believe will rise to the occasion for this rookie and in front of their large home crowd.

Thanks for the write-ups. Seems like a lost art these days. I'm on board with most picks, except I probably won't pull the trigger on B'more. GL

Thanks SerfCap. I realize that write-ups open me up to criticism, which is welcome. The more input the better. During football season that is what makes the RX so useful.

I like write ups, on the basis, everyone sees a game differently even if they're playing the same wager.

Write ups is what provides substance to the selection. We know that anything can happen at any time. You give great insight Fred...ty.

Any chance you could get a permanent thread that we could bookmark and go to each day?

Either way...your thread is worth the effort always.

Probably my final play: Seattle/ LAD- over 4 for first 5 innings. One unit. Mariners have not hit at home, and are way overdue. They do have a lot of good lefty bats vs. Billingsley- who has been sub-par since the beginning of May. Beaven has also been giving up the HRs- 11HRs in 60 IPs. He will lose his spot in the rotation when some of their young prospects start coming up. He throws too many fastball in the 90s that tend to be in the middle of the plate. Dodgers are hitting well and might be the best hitting team in the NL.

5-5, -1.4 units YTD: 112-100, + 27.7 units. Have a busy week at work. Don't know how much I'll post for a few days. And I'm 0-2 on my NL bets- should have listened to myself. The NL so far is doing well, and I can honestly say the following teams are as good as the better AL teams: Washington, LA, Atlanta. All of these teams can hit down the lineup, and have very good pitching. Others showed that they can compete at times: Houston, Giants, Pittsburgh(this team wins often with much lesser talent).
