Have you ever used a resume writing service?

My mom is applying for a job she badly wants, shes intelligent and a much better writer than I, but still think her resume and cover letter needs help. Its a guidance counsler at a elementary school. She has a bachelors in Pysc which she received a year ago, although no exp.

Who did you use and how was your experience? I am paying for it so I cost is some what important.

I really don't think you need to use a service for this resume. Simple things like using active verbs, having a very readable format, and catering the skill set towards the skills asked for in the job. Its best to work off the job description and find experience that relate back to the job needs

Have her go to Craigslist and near the bottom of the page there is a spot for services in the category it says write/ed/tr8 most don't charge that much..

Yes, paid $150 and it was well worth it.

Yes, I had a company write my Federal resume as they can be up to 10 pages long and are intially graded by a computer. I had a lot of success making it to interviews with the TSA, DEA, Customs & Border Patrol. In one instance I was one of five out of 400 people to get an interview with one of the agencies.

I paid $700 but split it with four others as we all had similiar experience.
