What would you do if your bank gave you to access unlimited funds? Would you spend it all or alert the bank of the error?

There are plenty of morons out there that would go on a spending spree thinking they just received free money.

Im not one of em.

Alert the bank of the error is the obvious choice here.

i can see overspending a couple thousands by mistake if even that, but you're an idiot if you think you can do what you like and get away with it...esp with the banking power. i would just alert bank so someone cant get ahold of my account and i'll be responsible for it.

I would go to the casino and run up a 1.5 million dollar tab that I can't pay.

Ronald Page reportedly withdrew $312,000 from the Greektown Casino in Detroit.

Jackpot! For a couple of weeks back in 2009, Ronald Page was living the dream. Thanks to a bank error, the retired General Motors worker was able to withdraw unlimited amounts of cash from ATMs at casinos in the Detroit area.
Instead of letting Bank of America know of their screw-up, Page decided to let it ride--going on what must have been an epic gambling spree.
With just a few hundred dollars in his bank account, Page withdrew a total of $1.5 million in cash from casino ATMs, according to a report by Detroit's Local 10.
Page took out $312,000 at Greektown Casino, $103,000 at MGM Grand Casino and $514,000 at Motor City Casino, according to Local 10.
But Page's lucky streak was short-lived. Fifteen days and many, many ATM withdrawals later, Page had gambled away all the money. (Editor's note: if you suddenly find yourself flush with cash, we recommend an index fund or more prudent investment.)
It wasn't long before Bank of America froze his account and federal authorities stepped in.
Page was indicted on stealing bank funds in 2009, according to the Flint Journal. He has since been convicted and will be sentenced by a federal judge on June 27.

Prosecutors are recommending a 15-month sentence because the bank is partly to blame for the error, Local 10 reports.

The correct answer is to withdraw as much cash as you can (or as much as you think will go unnoticed) and put it in a safe deposit box. If they never ask for it back, you won. If they do come looking for it, then you can either give it back with no loss or try run away somewhere

They'd find a SDB easily. You'd have to have a way to leave the country and get somewhere safe with the money or hide the cash outdoors somewhere for when you get out of prison.

I'd take as much as possible in liquid funds and flee to a country without an extradition treaty with the U.S.

Im not the morality police here. People can do whatever the F they want as far as Im concerned. As long as it doesnt affect others.

But according to this, you are OK with stealing? Just askin.

Ill pull out what my Mother used on me from the time I was 3 yrs old.... So 2 wrongs make a right?

People can pretty much justify anything in their own minds. Especially when it benefits themselves.

You do realize every single time you even go to a safety deposit box the bank records it? Its not like they just ignore it and let people come and go as they please with as much illegal activity as possible. To do the SDB idea, you would probably need to find someone you trust (not a close relative, too obvious)

I am never going to be in position to steal anywhere close to hundreds of thousands, so whether or not I am OK with it isn't going to effect any other

Yet a primary reason stashing the money rather than spending is correct is it gives the person the opportunity to give it back if their morals ever tell them it's wrong

How does that work for a safety deposit box that isn't part of a bank? There are ones that require nothing more than cash, maybe $300 per year, that are completely anonymous and won't document customer information. If it's 600 miles away and no personal information was given in the transaction how will it be found out?

I withdrew money from ATM one time and the machine spit out $200 more dollars than I asked for. I didnt call them, they called me in two days and asked me about it. They said I could either bring it back or they can just take it out of my account.
