The kid signed for 1M. I'm pretty sure you would want your kid to do the same. If he flames out in Professional Baseball, he (as long as he is smart) will have the resources to go get a degree and not have any student loans. The kid would be crazy not to do this.

To be honest NO, I would prefer my kid to at least secure a proper education for their future.

Once that has been obtained then I would be more than supportive of him/her becoming a professional athlete.

Have you ever looked into how many professional athletes go broke?

Yeah, they go broke but I'm pretty sure it ain't because they didn't have a high school education. High school education in the US is a joke anyway.

Your completely correct, they go broke because they are professional athletes who think they can do anything. It's the same as some of these rappers that run around like they own everything.

There is just no way I can agree with this. Have you looked at the job market lately? There are gobs of recent college graduates working at Lowes and Wal Mart. There is just not a lot of good jobs out there right now. College is supposed to prepare you for a profession. This kid is doing the right thing by getting paid right now. As long as he doesn't go out and get an entourage or buy a bunch of cars, he won't be broke anytime soon.

Lol, pretty sure you can go to school whenever you want.....The Yankees aren't offering you 1M whenever you want, or to anyone.

Also I didn't get the LeBron part? What did he do wrong this time?

I don't even get what the issue is. "The big bucks they think they are going to make" Pretty sure he is going to get a 1M contract.

What is the kid or LeBron doing wrong?

I wouldn't say anyone is wrong or right. I just can't believe these kids are turning down FREE RIDES at these colleges. NO LOANS EVER.

As far as Lebron, I wouldn't say he's wrong for anything but traveling to highschools and colleges and telling them how important their education is, is being a hypocrite.
Do I like Lebron? NO
Do I think he's cocky and ignorant? YES
Do I think he's one of the best basketball players to play the game? YES I'll admit that.

Wait what?

LeBron James is a hypocrite for telling kids to go to school and get an education? Ok, guess I've heard it all. Maybe instead he should tell them just to skip college and go to the NBA like him? That is probably better advice. Hell, maybe he should tell them to join a gang and just sell blow? Not sure what the point of this thread is.

Also I think dude can afford college now with his 1M if he ever wants to go back. Baseball a far less brutal sport than football, kinda a no brainer to do that.

Yes I would clearly call someone a hypocrite if they said college doesn't matter, but then go back and talk to college students (because he was told to, not because he wanted to) to tell them how important a college education is.

That's almost worse than smoking a cigarette while lecturing someone on why not to smoke.....

He said college didn't matter? When? I'm guessing he thinks going to college is a +EV move for someone who isn't capable of posting a triple double on any given night.
