After going on a nice run, I have missed my last two picks. No big deal here. I have lost far more than two and a row before and I am certain I will again. The key is just to aim for as much consistency as you can muster. For whatever reasons, wins and losses tend to show up in bunches in this particular field.
That being said, let me revert to the beat up doll of the National League, the Chicago Cubs. I read a thread yesterday of an absolute perfect analysis of why the Cubs would win the first game of this series. I wish I could remember the persons screen name who posted the analysis, but I dont. Anyway, it was spot on !
Now the question is, have the Mets realized that they are playing the Cubs yet and got some of their swagger back ?
I'm not so sure the Mets are awake just yet. So if the Cubbies manage to take Game 2 I wil be sitting and waiting for Game 3.
The Cubs are starting Randy Wells. Wells has been a decent pitcher this year. He has only one start against the Mets in his career and lost. However, he has pitched a total of 24 innings against the Mets in his career and has a 2.92 ERA. Not to bad.
Dillon Gee has pitched only one time against the Cubs and is 1-0. But lets look closer at the numbers. Gee pitched 6 innings against the Cubs in his only start and gave up 4 runs. An ERA of 6.00.
I think the Cubs are good for their part of 4 runs tonight and maybe more. Ditto for the Mets.
Take the Total OVER 8
