First let me say, thank you to the truly pathetic Miami Marlins for making my baseball betting funds larger. I'm not sure how much longer I can milk that cow, but we'll see. Tuesday: 8-2, +7.8 units.

Second, watching the Padres and Astros play footsy with each other while runners get stranded, batters swing at crap pitches and 2 lousy pitchers hang around looking good- well, it's like watching your sister's piano recital- you can't wait for it to end. I don't think I got so lucky with those 4 runs in the bottom of the fifth as much as it had to happen sometime. Kip Wells still can't pitch, but the Astros just looked asleep until the 5th. And as for their leadoff hitter, Brian Bixler, who struck out twice against Wells, you are destined for the minors. Bixler now has 19 Ks in 48 at bats- which if you multiply it out(can't remember the math term), would be 200 Ks in 500 AB. Of course the Padres are even worse. That lineup tonight is screaming "under!" With their pitching injuries, I will be looking seriously at playing against them.

Finally, be careful what you bet on one play or one day. Remember, I went 1-7 last Friday. If you bet big on any one day, you could lose a bundle on one of my bad days. And I've had a number of bad days, so keep your units uniform. If I go .500 for the next month, well that's acceptable. Could get hot after that, and could go up quite a bit. Good luck from here on out, and thanks for any insight from around the country on local teams.

Really tempted to go on the Yankees tomorrow. Right now they are the best team in baseball, and the Indians are fading. I do like this bet tonight.
NYY/ Clev. -under 9.5. Not one HR has been hit off of Ubaldo or Petitte by the opposing teams for Wed. game. In fact, neither team's hitters have a very good history against these 2 pitchers. I'll have to admit I am not a fan of Ubaldo, but he has pitched well as of late, has an uptick in velocity, and might really get up for this game. Likewise the Tribe has only hit .215 vs. lefties, and Petitte has also pitched well. Both pitchers have a good number of Ks in recent games. If not for Jose Lopez's garbage time HR Tuesday, that would have been under the number too. Both teams have good BPs. Oh, and Russell Martin, whom does hit Ubaldo well, may not play.

Chisox. ML. One unit. Don't usually like to give up this much juice on a game, but the way the White Sox are hitting, they might squeak it out. This is a true pitching mismatch, Sale vs. Blackburn. Both teams are slumping so that's even. White Sox have the better BP, Twins are at home. Blackburn is very consistent in giving up 4 runs a start average. I can't imagine Sale giving up 4 runs to the Twins the way they are hitting.
Chisox -1/2 one unit. First 5 innings.

Thank you for sharing your ability with us Fred as well as your advice on money management. There is no other sports betting season as long or with as many betting opportunities as baseball. Bad streaks are inevitable...often several during the course of a season.

But after this latest run of yours I do think it is time to recalibrate the BR and reset a new unit amount.

Win or lose...ty again.

Given your distain for the Marlins, I wonder about back the Cardinals today for the sweep and 6 in a row. Marlins winners of just one game out of the last nine, Sanchez sucks...Kelly good, young sinkerball pitcher...Cards scoring runs in bunches.

Best of all, getting plus money for game and 1st 5 innings.

Check the phillies tonight, they are basiclly using the bullpen to get through the game against the pirates and McDonald is a good pitcher. Chase Utley is back but I just don't see Philly bullpen beating McDonald tonight.

Not sure if he will or needs to raise units because this is what's made him so successful thus far. But I'm no pro at giving advice.....

I appreciate all the compliments. I'm keeping my units the same. Maybe next year I'll up my units. We'll see how this year finishes up.

LAD/ SF: under 3.5 for first 5 iPs. One unit. Both of these pitchers going through rough spots, especially Linecum. Both are known for giving up early runs before settling down. Giants are hitting, Dodgers are not. Hopefully Linecum will loosen up their bats. After Kershaw and Vogelsong last night, these 2 might look like someone they can hit. With both being righties, lefty leaning lineups might hit the short porch in RF.

Damn. The Reds game just started and I didn't get in my play. Would have chosen the Reds for one unit. NO Braun and that lineup sucks without him. Too many whiffers. Also, Bailey has had 6 out of 8 quality starts.

Just trying to clarify...reading your comments that first play looks like an over?
Did you mean over LAD/SF first 5?

LAD haven't scored a run in 2.5 games, they'll probably manage to make him look like the Lincecum of old. Any other picks for the later games? :)

STL/ Miami: over 8.5. one unit
STL over 4 TT. One unit. Joe Kelly pitches to contact and sometimes too much of it. If a lot of those sinkers get hit for line drives or hard grounders, the Marlins might score some runs. Sanchez is going against the hot hitting Cardinals. They are seeing the ball real well as a team. Sanchez is off his game. Last 4 starts: 22 IPs, 26 hits, 20 runs, and most disturbing, his walks are up. That is a sign (and who can blame him on this team) of losing confidence. Marlin bullpen is awful right now, and the Cards is average. They'll need I think tonight. Kelly won't go too deep. Also, a strong wind blowing out to left. One thing I'll say for both of these teams, they have some HR swatters.

Pirates. ML. One unit. Valdes has been one of the few good relievers in the Phillies BP. Only problem is he can't relieve himself. I can see the Phillies bullpen blowing this game late. I'm also so impressed with McDonald. Like Vogelsong, he is ALWAYS in the game. With a very good Pirate bullpen, I'll take the + money on this. Utley's return might inspire the Phils, and maybe that's why their favored over one of the best pitchers in the NL, but I doubt he hits well. If the Phillies do hit well, especially against McDonald, then maybe they are out of their season long slump.

Not this year. Only 1 game I could see, and he gave up 1 run in 6 IPs. Besides McDonald is a different pitcher now.

Arizona TT over 3.5. one unit. When do you get the D-Backs at this number against a guy that gives up HRs and walks?

Nice day yesterday. Yu wasn't awesome, but good enough to bring home the cash. Rangers bats looked a little bit better (i.e. Michael Young definitely looked like he might be coming alive) but still 4 or 5 of their hits were TL's. If I knew Fister was right I think tonight might be an okay spot to take Detroit. Fister didn't pitch well last time out so I'm gun shy, but they couldn't hit him in the ALCS last year.

Will report back tomorrow, as I have a feeling tomorrow could be time a good time for an over bet even with Oakland's bats. I have seats right behind home next to the scouts, so will also get a good report on Oswalt tonight

Fade this one if you want, but I'm counting it. One unit first 5. under 5 in Houston/ SD game.(-125) Houston is missing Altuve and Maxwell (who has some power). They also don't hit lefties well(like Richards). And dang, that CF in Houston is way out there. SD lineup the usual garbage. Harrell has pitched poorly at times, but has faced some good hitting teams- @COL, Texas, etc. He also has some good outings mixed in there. Pitchers will hit in first 5, then the Bps will take over, which includes PHs.
