I find it funny that there are still plenty of posters, when they sign up
Say a different location than they really are from.

I mean I kind of understand when they list Las Vegas. They want others to think, they are in Vegas so they must know more.

But I don't get someone from NJ saying they are from NY or someone from Texas saying Florida, etc..

That is weird behavior, and I don't know why people would lie in their sign ups.

I'm certain you have IP tracking software as a Mod and can see exactly where they're from when they sign up, right?

I'm in Bangkok, Thailand. If you do a quick IP analysis of my post, you'll see I speak the truth! :grandmais

Incubus, what was your name on here back around 2007. I remember laughing my ass off at your posts in the sports forums, but I can't for the life of me remember what your name was then.

The ones who claim Las Vegas clearly do it for the reason BAS stated above.

But I don't think ALL other cases are done for any specific reason.

Some like to post their hometown or similar reasons...

depending on how they connect to the internet, it could be just a technical issue, and not them being deceptive. For instance, if I tether my laptop to my smartphone, my ip will say i'm in Seattle, even though Seattle is many miles from Portland.

I was thinking hometown also. I have a few friends/co-workers who have lived here for a year or 2 now and still have an out of state area code for their cell phone

big thing here is people keep out of state plates on car as cheaper in other states than in NV

Cause they dont like where they live and wished they lived in place stated in location.

Or they could be in the witness protection program.

1) Moved since signing up and too lazy to change? I mean New York/NJ is basically the same state unless you live north of the Bronx or South of the Gothels annyways.
