Lets see how long it takes someone to get both right.

Not a particular game.
Im talking innings in all the games combined.

A guess would be like the 2nd and 5th.
If you guessed this you would be saying the 2nd is the highest scoring in baseball history and the 5th is the lowest scoring.

I got it right on my 1st try.

Can you?

I would of guessed 1st highest and 9th lowest..

9th lowest was a mortal lock..

Would love to know where 1st inning ranks.

After looking at stats for a large number of seasons I'm pretty certain the 1st inning is the highest scoring. Here's what I have as total runs scored by innings from 2007-2011:
1 14909
6 14672
4 14174
5 14156
3 14019
7 13320
8 12970
2 12277
9 8848
Ext 2188

2007-2011 isn't much of a sample since baseball goes back well over 100 years. In the old days of complete games the starter was probably often best early in the game. I can see him wearing down by the 7th.

Well there you go. Fox doesn't tell the truth about anything, why would they treat baseball any differently?

Doug, let me see if I can locate any larger sample sizes without too much work.

The farthest I could back for regular-season games is 1948. Here's the data for 1948-current:

1 135266
6 125161
4 122757
3 121268
5 121021
7 120048
8 117046
2 106284
9 81062

The relative positions of the inning scoring changes very little from the smaller sample size of 2007-2011. If 1900 is accepted as the starting season for modern baseball, I don't think the results of 1900-1948 will change the top and bottom spots in the list.

I would have a hard time seeing the 7th inning being the highest scoring inning when you account for 100+ years of rain shortened games/games being called due to darkness.
