Nugent was loud, full of energy, didn't play long but saved his best for last with Cat Scratch Fever and Stranglehold. A little loud and funny politically too, although he may have offended some (especially PETA people)

REO was solid, played their hits and were tight. Show was kinda like listening to a CD, not a lot of showmanship

Styx was last and they were absolutely sensational. Great show, and the crowd participation / reaction was the best for them by far.

If you ever get a chance to go see Styx, I recommend you do so

Saw them in 83 at the Texas Jam. They played with Hagar, Triumph, Nugent, and Uriah Heep. The Texas jam was big here in the 80's, it was basically 5 different bands and was an all-day thing.

I liked 70's Styx the best.

Ive always liked Styx but never saw them in concert but have heard many people say how good they are live. Don't go to concerts much anymore but would love to check them out if they come around here which they probably will since they are touring with REO again. REO is my favorite group and have seen them several times(first time was in 1974 with Joe Walsh) and they were always very energenic on stage. Im sure age has alot to do with the lack of showmanship but sounds like they still have it musucally.

Seen them all years ago... Always liked Styx, saw them with Boston back in the day.
REO always likes as well, can't remember who they played with back then.
Nugent saw like early 80-81 I think.

Mohegan puts on a good show. Great place to see one.

Isn't it true that Styx lead singer is no longer with them or have they made up?

the replacement is every bit as good and you can't tell the difference

it's not like David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagger

Gowan has been the man for 13 years now, did a great great job

Technically Styx has/had three "lead singers". Dennis DeYoung is the voice most people know....but Tommy Shaw sang some of their greatest hits (Blue Collar Man, Renegade, Crystal Ball). James Young ("JY") sang several other hits as well (Half-Penny Two-Penny, Ms. America).

DeYoung and Shaw had a personality conflict and never could completely reconcile. DeYoung played w/ them back in the mid-90's but never rejoined (and was more or less "kicked out"). He tours now as "Dennis DeYoung and the Music of Styx". He is awesome! His voice is as strong as ever. I've seen him twice on this tour. He has several very good solo albums and several of the songs sound like old, original Styx.

I saw Tommy Shaw play w/ Damn Yankees (also featured Ted Nugent & Rick Blades, from Sister Christian).

When I was at UF in the early/mid 90's I saw James Young play solo. It was great. He had a singer that sang the DeYoung songs and another who sang the Tommy Shaw songs. Only about 50 people attended the show, which was sad.

I haven't seen the current Styx lineup. I imagine Gowan does a good job performing the DeYoung songs, as for most fans DeYoung "was" Styx. But DeYoung's voice is truely unique and cannot be replicated.

Great band....and in the words of Adam Sandler, "Styx was one of the greatest Rock-n-Roll bands of all-time. The critics were just synical assholes!"

Nugent puts on a good show. Anyone of those bands would beat the snoozefest that was the grateful dead.

Worried about the legacy of the Founding Fathers of the United States of America, Ted Nugent is now pondering whether the world would have been better off had the Confederate States, which fought to sever the union, been victorious in the Civil War.
The Detroit-born rocker and outspoken conservative activist writes in a new op-ed for The Washington Times of his fundamental fear of what he calls "Fedzilla," or a government with a social safety net. Triggered by Chief Justice John Roberts voting to uphold President Obama's Affordable Care Act -- but calling the mandate to buy insurance a tax instead of a penalty -- Nugent says, "Because our legislative, judicial and executive branches of government hold the 10th Amendment in contempt, I’m beginning to wonder if it would have been best had the South won the Civil War. Our Founding Fathers’ concept of limited government is dead."

I saw my first concert in the summer of 1981. It was Styx "Paradise Theater". I haven't seen many better than that one since.
