That's 2 times that he has failed, I Say NO

Sonnen’s coach Scott McQuarry told MMAJunkie.com that he is seeking to file an appeal of Silva’s second-round technical knockout to get the decision overturned by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

This latest controversy stems from a Silva knee strike that helped end the bout. Under UFC rules, it’s illegal to throw a knee or kick to the head of a downed opponent. Sonnen had stumbled after wildly missing a spinning backfist.

Officials from UFC said the knee caught Sonnen in the chest, paving the way for a series of Silva punches that prompted referee Yves Lavigne to call the fight at 1:55 of the second round.

Hoping to remove any taint on the outcome, UFC president Dana White cut off a reporter’s attempt to question Silva about whether the knee was illegal, during the post-fight news conference at the MGM Grand.

Nope. No point in seeing Silva vs. Sonnen 3 when Silva won the first two. Although, it would be entertaining to hear Chael talk some more trash.

Definitely doesn't deserve one - I think the only way it happens is if the UFC run out of marketable fights for Silva.

Knee hit him in the chest, so that's 2 losses fair and square. No need for a 3rd one. Would probably be the same outcome again: Sonnen scoring some rounds, but not being able to finish off Silva, and then eventually getting countered and either knocked out or being submitted

I see I'm alone here but I would like to see fight # III

The sport needs fight #3, we don't need to see Silva continue to bash the middle weight field, Chael is the only fighter that has given Silva a fight since he's been champion and my scoring has it Chael 6 rounds Silva 1 round and 2 wins which is all that matters, I know. Say what you want Silva has 2 victories but Chael dominated 6 out of 7 rounds in 2 fights but lost I know. No question, Silva is the champ.

No reason why #3 can't happen if Chael wins his next few fights convincingly, is the #1 contender and Silva is still middle weight champ. Trash talking = dollars for Dana and Dana knows it.

NO!! I love UFC but at times I think Dana White runs out of real talent and puts up Irrelevant matchups and spiffs the trash talkers to boost the hype for some of the events...I fully understand he does what he does to make money but here's an example Munoz vs. Weidman who cares about these two fighters, I prefer Quality over Quantity

I don't think he does, not right away but what sucks is they are both getting older so in a couple years if they do fight again, both will be old, Silva 40 by then.

But for those that think he does, what if Sonnen wins the third fight? Shouldn't Silva be given a chance to get his belt back cause he won 2 of 3?

absolutely! Then we would have a classic IV fight! Can't wait another 2 years though, it would have to be sooner.

I say no to the immediate rematch, but because of the BS that went on in the 2nd fight I think Sonnen deserves another go after a win or two.

I said this in another thread but I see Sonnen moving up to LHW (could be wrong), just makes a lot of sense. A lot of big names there for him to fight.

Washed up guys like 'Page, Griffin then guys who he can keep his brazil rivalry going with like Machida, Rua, TSilva
