In women's sports, the battle cry is typically "anything you can do I can do better." Apparently, that includes brawling, as well.

Saturday's grudge match between the Boston Militia and the D.C. Divas in Somerville ended in atypical fashion, with the Massachusetts state police being called out to restore order after a bench-clearing brawl between the two rivals. According to CBS Boston, the bad feelings between the two squads turned physical after Militia defensive back Jennifer Powell had her helmet ripped off by Diva players — no pun intended.

Still, the game ended 55-34 in favor of Boston, with the Militia finishing the season 10-0 and qualifying for the Women's Football Alliance National Conference Championship July 21 against the Chicago Force.

Powell said she does, in fact, plan to file criminal charges against the Diva players who she accuses of attacking her.

"Players grabbed Powell’s face mask and took her helmet off then starting beating her on the sideline, then the entire sideline starting kicking her," said Militia head coach Derrick Beasley.

That stadium, in Somerville, was just a few blocks from my last apartment back East... Never went to a game.

Pretty tame brawl it looks like...
