From NBC Sports:
Terrell Owens is once again in hot water over failing to meet his child support obligations.
Owens, the former NFL wide receiver who has repeatedly been accused by the mothers of his children of failing to make required support payments, did not attend a hearing in one of his child support cases today, and Judge John Goger was upset about that, according to WSB TV in Atlanta.
Owens’ attorney, David Hartin, took the blame for Owens’ failure to appear, saying he didn’t communicate well with his client. Owens could face jail time if he doesn’t show up for another hearing set for a week from today.
Today’s court action was brought by Melanie Smith, the mother of Owens’ 7-year-old daughter, who says he has violated his agreement to pay her $5,000 a month in child support and has not made any payments in four months.
In an appearance with the mothers of his children on Dr. Phil this year, Owens said he squandered $80 million. In a subsequent interview Owens said he didn’t really lose that much money, and he’s not broke.
