donates 10% to a church......biggest money sucking cesspool out there

My sister does this shit, and it just boggles my mind.

I can see believing in god, higher power, or whatever, but to donate money to a religion is stupid in my opinion. they lure people in by fear, then they hook, line and sink them:>(

Why do you care? I don't donate 10% to my church but put something in the plate when I go. If you truly enjoy your church then why not donate to help them pay the bills. After all, it does costs money for the building, maintenance, paying the preacher etc. etc. etc.

I mean just think about it. You have no problem betting unreal amounts of money over the course of your life on sports, but you have a problem with people who tithe to a church? Of course there are some fraud people out there who are just out for the money, but you have shit like that with anything in life.

Pastors are smart enought to know and will preface each semon thats subject matter is about money that the Bible directly speaks of tithing and stewarship in X amount of verses. From a pastor's viewpoint it is Biblically sound and mandatory. From an outsider's viewpoint, it may appear as an avenue to hustle money from desperate people. One thing I know to be true is they more you give, the firmer the handshake from the pastor will be when you leave the service. Give a couple of dollars or some pocket change and chances are you will get the cold fish handshake.

It's the way religion goes about it. some people actually believe if they dont believe a certain way they are going to hell.....that cracks me up. so you life becomes consumed with fear of church, living by the standards of the church, or at least acting like it, giving unreal amounts of cash over a life time to these crooks. again, it;s just my opinion.

I'd rather give my nephew 1K to throw down on the Bengals than give it to some crooked ass, brain washing religion

That isn't true Christianity. Salvation is by grace through faith and not by our own good works. Read the 4 Gospels and you'll be really surprised by what you find out. Honestly that was how I became a Christian. Man can't make up the Gospel. It's completely unlike all other religions that man has made up.

Those people that say send $1k to my annointed ministry and God will bless you financially.....they are liars.

I know people that Tithe, some of the nicest people I know. Can never judge them harshly

also think the message most religions teach is not bad. Love people, spend time with your family, try to remain loyal, help others, don't steal.......... At the very least, a lot of wisdom can be found in religious teachings

I donate, but I give more to UConn for season tickets than I do to church.

My biggest waste of money was paying Jim Fiest when I was a kid

Willie, most religions teach if you don't believe their way, you are going to hell. you listen to catholics talk about baptist and vice versa. it comes down tot he mighty dollar, they teach what you are saying cause it is the "right thing to do" they are in it for the $$

I could care less what anyone believes outside of my own family. I have questions about my own religion and while I give to our church it's not 10% but I give plenty.

For you to say people are stupid for giving to what they believe in is elitist at best. Our church doesn't take money to make money, they do a lot of good with it outside of just taking it.

You need to get an education on a lot of topics, religion being one of them and not all churches are a scam.
