Andrew McCutchen

If you’ve been paying attention to baseball of late, you know the league’s best player has been roaming the outfield in Pittsburgh. Hitting .369 with 22 HR and 65 driven in, Andrew McCutchen has been on a hot streak for the ages.
He’s on an exciting, young contender in the Pirates, he has carried his team on his back for a while, and he has the most complete stats of any NL MVP candidate. You simply can’t pick against this guy right now.

McCutchen also leads the NL in Slugging % & OPS (Photo courtesy MLBlogs Pittpeas)
The main question is whether or not he can keep it up in the 2nd half. The man is only 25, so you have to assume he has all the energy to burn in the world. Being trotted out there every day, I see no reason to believe that he won’t finish the year with superb numbers.
Will he be able to keep pace with his nearly .500 average of late? Of course not. But his consistency has been there all year.
If McCutchen can keep his power numbers up, and if the Cinderella story in Pittsburgh continues, McCutchen will be the clear-cut leader for NL MVP.

This kid has improved dramatically. Just a couple of years ago he was a skinny, base-stealing, triples-hitting blue-collar centerfielder. He certainly deserves MVP if it were voted on today. I wouldn't be surprised if he was on the juice. Amazing how much bigger he is than just a couple of years ago....

^^^ no worries. I was - more or less - fucking w/ you....and the "steroids" comment was sarcasm as well. In this day and age, everyone gets accused of being on roids after they have a bump in numbers. McCutchen is no different, from what I've seen. He has beefed up significantly...but that happens when young men mature and get older.

First off, Coach LT is an idiot! He never promoted one time in 30+ years on the FD.

The comment about the roids was sarcasm. I guess you're getting too old to detect that.....

Where is the sarcasm?

I majored in English...

You have to more or less ass kiss to get promoted....might have to give my buddy LT a call....

VD, you don't know shit about promotions on the FD. It's pretty simple: study for a promotional exam...they take your score PLUS your seniority points and then place you on a list. It's black & white. LT was MAXED out on the seniority side. He was just too stupid (seriously) and lazy (seriously) to study and make a good enough score to get promoted. He retired w/ the rank of "firefighter". I've promoted every time I've taken a promotional exam. I made Engineer within 3 years on the job and Lieutenant within 6 years. The only reason I'm not a Captain is I haven't taken the exam yet due to being on active duty. So, there you have it. Your hero, LT, isn't exactly a rocket scientist! But, like they say....two peas in a pod! Go call him...please! He'll have some useless comment....nothing to see here.

Guess you missed the question about respecting your elders....

Great respose, VD. Sorry to burst your bubble about your hero. Could you imagine working somewhere for 30+ years and NEVER getting a promotion? He made less than $45,000/year. Sad. Yet, I should "respect" him.....

Since when does the money mean anything? It is nice to have but not the means to an end....just because he didn't get any promotions what gives you the right to step on him like he is an insect? Is that what they teach you in OCS nowadays? Guess you missed the class and dignity lesson...

CB you are a bright kid...have some compassion for your friends...
