Bombers continue their nightmare with the last of four road games to start the seaon in Toronto on Wednesday. QB Pierce is out (what a shock) and Alex Brink will start despite being knocked out of the previous game after taking a vicious hit. The Argos have been competitive in all three games so far and have the type of offense that should really cause problems for Winnipeg. Their ability to run the ball with Cory Boyd should enable QB Ray to find open receivers all over the field against a struggling defense featuring several players out of their regular positions. Bombers linebacking corps is the worst in the league and should be in for another long night. After this game, Winnipeg plays four straight at home and will have their bye week as well, so that should result in some victories, but for now the losing continues.

Play: Tor (-6 1/2)

I was very surprised when I read that Brink would start. He looked awfully unsteady on his feet leaving the field. I figured for sure he'd get held out of action a week for possible concussion.

I agree with you American. Thought teams were going to be extra careful where the head is involved, but I guess when you're as desperate.....

I'm curious how it'll affect Winnipeg play-calling, if at all. Elliott didn't play badly at all when he was in the game, and he's started a little before, but I don't think the Bombers want to be in a position where one hard hit on Brink could make Elliott the No. 1 guy for a number of weeks. I have no idea who they'd fill out the roster with if Brink went down.

(Why do I have a feeling Michael Bishop just sent the Winnipeg front office making sure they have his phone number, just in case?)

Justin Goltz is being dressed as the third QB for the Bombers. He played the last part of a game last year when Elliot got hurt and looked okay but is clearly not ready to play extensively. Chad Simpson will be inserted as their starting running back even though his ability to make cuts is still in question. If he should happen to re-injure himself in the game, the next in line would be one of two Canadian backs that have no experience whatsoever. Sounds very much like total desperation is setting in, which is too bad because it's a long season and it's not how you start, but how you finish that counts (see BC last year).

Added a prop play on Cory Boyd rushing for "over" 80 1/2 yards in tonight's game. Was looking for a Chad Owens prop (since he always has big games versus the Bombers) but couldn't find one.
