LAKE WALES, Fla. – A Florida teenager was charged Wednesday with murdering his grandmother by stabbing her 93 times and shooting her in the head with a crossbow.
Jasper Aristotle Smiddie, 19, confessed to stabbing his grandmother, 67-year-old Gloria Helfrich, shooting her in the head with a crossbow and beating her with a pipe wrench, MyFoxTampaBay.com reports.
He reportedly told investigators that he "blacked out and woke up two hours later with blood all over his hands and his grandmother," FOX 13 reports.
Authorities say Smiddie decided to kill his grandmother to make his uncle suffer. They say he originally plotted to kill his uncle, but decided to kill Helfrich instead.
"He decided, 'Well, I'll kill my grandmother instead so that my uncle has to live with the death of his mother for the rest of his life,' " Sheriff Grady Judd of the Polk County Sheriff's Department said.
Authorities say they do not know why the teen hated his uncle so vehemently, but told MyFoxTampaBay.com that he has been very open about the murder.
Police say Smiddie killed his grandmother in her bedroom in the home they shared. Then, in a bizarre twist. he locked the door and waited for his uncle to get home. The teen then ate dinner and watched television with his uncle, who had no idea his mother lay dead in her bedroom.
Smiddie left the home in the morning, then reportedly called his father in Tampa and told him what he had done. His father called the police, and directed them to the woman's body.
Smiddie was arrested near his girlfriend's home and charged with first-degree murder.

figured this had to be a white kid. Only white people do shit like this on a daily basis all across the country. I wonder if something is embedded in the DNA of all white people to allow them to turn out like this.

Thank the Lord that I am black and the worse of my people just wolf-pack and toss food around about a local Walmart without exhibiting any violent behavior.

The "Flash Mob" thread in this forum will disagree with your statement. The good pure blood white american citizens in that thread seem to think that all black people commit crimes and act the way they do simply because they are black. But if a white person commits a crime or does something uncivilized then they are either crazy, music, drugs or video games are to blame or they weren't raised properly.

Has to be something deeper here. Kid was probably molested by his uncle. Does not justify the killing but it puts a reason behind it. . .

I first took this as a joke.... after reading the next few posts now I am not so sure. If it wasnt a joke then you must live under a rock!! Hate, violence, cruelty, racism, evil etc exist in all cultures, races and genders across the world

This is exactly what I am talking about. When a white person does some criminal murderous shit like this white people are all looking for an excuse or place to lay blame. But when a black person does something criminal white people just chalk up to them simply being black.

You misunderstand and are generalizing. You are doing the same thing you are complaining about.
My comment was made because of the murders age. "kid" he was a teenager who has yet to say a reason for the hatred towards his uncle. His skin color has absolutely nothing to do with that

All you need to do is read the comment section when ever there is a crime committed. When it is a black person that is the criminal the comments turn from vulgar to brutally racist within 10 posts. When it is a white criminal people are looking for an explanation for the reason the crime took place. If just one time I read an article that had something to do with a black person committing a crime and no one mentioned the fact that he was black and made some kind of racist comment I would have a lot more faith in my fellow man.

Completely agree. But it depends on where you are reading. You go here http://www.worldstarhiphop.com/videos/ and 90% of the comments are racist against anyone who is not black. . . and you are right to have little faith in your fellow man. The world is a messed up place

OK I'll bite......... You see though the difference is black people make excuses for thier fellow black people. Like somehow all black people are bonded together. So when black people act like that they get what they deserve.

I live outside of Detroit. We have hoodrats roaming the streets killing at an alarming rate. Go to the freep.com and read the comments when people commit a crime. If a black person commits a crime the fellow blacks will always comment on how there are no jobs and the racist past was the reason. I always have to correct them and point out how stupid they are.

Now when a white guy commits a crime the comments are to either kill them or put them in jail. Black people always want to protect fellow black hoodrats. Maybe if and when black people stand up and start calling out thier fellow people white people would not have the feelings we do.
