I think if players like Trevor Immelman or Stewart Cink can win majors, any of these players have a chance if they have one of those special weeks when everything comes together.. Very few thought that Bubba Watson had the temperment to win a major before he won the Masters. You never know with the game of golf. All of these players have game.

I picked up Scott on my predictions.. If I had to make changes I would go with yes on Snedeker now.

I agree I would change Snedeker to a yes. I would also change Fowler to a no.

I could also see Rose pulling one out at some point.

I think Rose will for sure and I agree with the rest if them.......Isn't Marion (sp) the site of US open this year and if so I think I have heard its a shorter, shot maker type course more so than bombers paradise. If that's the case some of those guys may have a better chance this year. Then again, I could be wrong about the course but I'm not going to look it up

Only reason I didn't argue Fowler is he is so young, he has time to learn a little patience

You should add Jordan Spieth to that list with a yes

I think KJ Choi has the temperment and the game to win one. But he's not getting any younger. It will probably have to come within the next 2 or 3 years. Fowler has the talent. But he's going to have to drastically change his approach to the game if he wants to win one.

I was actually on the fence with Rose.. I could see that.. How far off is Spieth from winning one in your opinion ?

Just throwing a dart here, but I'd guess between 5-8 years. I just like how he competes......IMO Rose is close to getting it done

Westwood, kuchar, snedaker, rose, stricker, and Dustin Johnson all yes to me (I understand all 6 unlikely but I think 3-5 of these guys get one)

Is it too early to add the 14 year old to the list? I think what he did the first 2 days was the most impressive thing in the tournament

Kuchar is turning into another Westwood.. Hits the leaderboard quite often, but something goes wrong on the back 9.. its becoming a habit..

my predictions

Donald-no
Westwood-Yes (He's right there all the time, eventually things will go his way on a Sunday... He is a rock solid player and we've learned from Els, Watson, Couples that majors can be contended for deep into the twilight of a career)
Scott-yes (Nice call)
Kuchar-Yes (Such a solid player, have a hard time seeing him never getting there)
Day-yes
Stricker-Yes (Best putter on tour will eventually cross the finish line in a major event... likely a PGA)
Rose-no
Garcia-no (just doesn't have the head for it... one of the paradoxes of the tour... physically gifted, ultra talented, mentally weaker than most weekend warriors)
Casey-no
Ryan Moore-no
Fowler-yes (as much as I hate to admit it, he'll probably get there... he's very young and very talented... may end up like Sergio though)
Poulter-no
Dufner-Yes (I think he'll get there. He just seems like he doesn't give a fuck... those are the guys you have to really watch out for...)
Mahan-No
D. Johnson-Yes (GREAT ball striker... has a long runway to become a better short game player and mentally tougher... the only thing that's stopping him from already being a major champion)
B Haas-No
B, Snedekar-Yes (I hope so... he seems like such a genuinely nice dude... All the tour players like him.)
Watney-yes
KJ Choi-no
Van Pelt-no
F. Jacobson-no
Colsaerts-yes
Senden-no
Laird-no
Baddeley-no
F. Molinari-yes

Consistant, but seems to lack the firepower of the big boys. Being a shorter hitter doesn't help his cause either. Not saying he can't win one on a near perfect week, but I'd put a lot of people ahead of him

If your a numbers man, you have to say that Stricker is on his last leg in trying to win a major. The numbers don't usually lie. The oldest Major winner that I know of in modern times is still Jack Nicklaus at 46. Steve Stricker is 46. I think his odds go way down after this year.. I think with many of these golfers listed above, they aren't a Tiger Woods who can just go out and win on about any course. I think they have to have the right course setup, right caddy (very important for the young guys) etc.. I also perfer their age to be between 30-35. We know that McIlroy is a phenom who won two majors by the time he was 23. But he's more the exception than the rule. Speaking of Rory, I still kick myself for not taking him in last year's PGA. That tournament was held at Kiawah, which is basically the closest thing to a links course in America. In fact no other course has more seaside-forming holes that Kiawah. And no other majors course was longer (7700 yards), which also fit his game.. Plus they played on Paspalum greens. The only course that had those greens on the PGA tour. With Rory coming from Ireland and the seaside holes that were his regular course with these types of greens, the 20-25 odds he was getting coming into that tournament was pretty generous. Even though it appeared his form was a little off. But we've learned we can't go strictly by form when it comes to professional golf. Cabrera wasn't exactly lighting up the golf world coming into the Masters. But he was a horse for the course.

Here's the thing you guys really need to think about when your considering who has a chance to win a major and who doesn't. Last year before that Mcilroy win at Kiawah, we had 16 straight/different winners in the last 16 majors! That brings a lot of golfers into the equation. That's why it's very hard to throw certain golfers out that we FEEL won't win a major. Although admittably RedEye, it is fun trying to guess. You've also got to consider before saying a flat NO to golfers like Dufner and Dustin Johnson, just remember that both of these golfers literally had majors wins in their grasp, and it was taken out from under them by an unfortunate series of events. So I'm never going to rule these guys out. They've both got a laid back attitiude that could serve them well in majors. It's just a matter of finding a course that will fit their game. One source that I've been using in all sports, especially golf is Winning Through Mathematics. It's a half pay and half free site. I never pay for anything, but this guy gives out some good free info when it comes to winning odds and longshots in these golf tournaments. In fact I went strictly by his picks this last time out and won with Adam Scott as one of his longshot winners. Of the 7 golfers he picked in all, 6 of them made the cut and made the final 6 groups. So he did well this time around. This is the link to his site. Go down about 3 articles and you'll see the longshots he picked, which also included Jason Day. http://www.tuttlemath.com/
