Friday: 2-4, + 3.9 units. Still can't figure out how that Tampa game came under so easily. The oddsmakers and sharps know much more than I do.

This might be my big play for the day.

LAA:ML. One unit
LAA: TT over 4. Darvish's problems in Seattle signal more than just a fluke with a team that usually can't hit. Darvish has had command issues all year. A patient batter will get a BB or wait on one of his down the middle pitches that Darvish throws when he REALLY needs a strike. Being a righty and having to deal with the Angels ability to steal bases will only make the situation worse. He will have to pitch out of the stretch often. He has only a 4.42 ERA on the road and his velocity has gone down a bit. The Angels have to think this series is an opportunity to make the AL West a race. Santana seems to be struggling on and off all year. The Rangers however have the lowest total of extra bases for the past 7 games of any mlb team. Ususally a team that has this many good hitters breaks out of their slump, but this one has gone on for a long, long time. Young has lost his power, Beltre is swinging at bad pitches again, and Hamilton is just not carrying this team anymore.

Detroit. ML. One unit. Such a small + ML going against Sale, but I can see why. The Tigers for the first time this year are looking alive. They are hitting good pitchers consistently and beating quality teams. The 3 out of 4 from the Angels might have turned their season around. The Tigers have done alright vs. Sale and I am wondering if the young ace is getting a little weary this far into the season. With Porcello you'll never know what you'll get, but he has been very good avoiding the long ball, not so good allowing contact.

KC-1. One unit large. Mendoza is like a new pitcher his last few starts and has been steady since he was made a starter. In his last 3 starts, 21 IPs, he has 20 Ks, using his nasty curveball more often with 2 strike counts. Also has shown far better command of all his pitches. His fastball can at times touch the mid 90s. Diamond has been also great for Minnesota, but seems to be regressing more toward his norm lately. He throws in the high 80s and is very dependent on getting ground balls off his fastball. In the heat of KC, he probably won't last all that long, and the Twin BP is poor to say the least. The KC bullpen is pretty deep and should help Mendoza much better. The Twins, other than their 19 run outburst 5 days ago, have not been hitting well. Even before the 19 run game. KC has been hitting pretty well, though not winning. KC has 30 extra base hits in their past 7 games and a .300.

Sorry about the late posting on the Detroit game, but my 1 unit plays haven't been so great so maybe better to fade.

Houston TT under 3.5. One unit. Forget about the Astros 8 runs last night. Cahill had nothing and the D-Backs then sent in their garbage time relievers late in the game. The Astros are lucky to get 1 off of Miley, who might go pretty far into this game. The Astros stripped down lineup is not going to likely hit a tough lefty who is looking to reestablish himself as the D-Backs best pitcher. Also, even with the 8 runs last night, the Astros are hitting. 188 last 7 games with 69 Ks, and just 23 walks.

Pirates:-1. One unit. The Pirates bullpen is one of the last ones to hold up in this long season. Burnett is also a tough pitcher to face at home. The Marlins haven't seen him as much as the Pirates have faced Zambrano. Zambrano doesn't have good BAA stats with this Pirate lineup and those stats go back to when he was a quality pitcher. Alvarez and Jones also have a .400+ career avg. vs Zambrano. McCuthcheon is almost unstoppable, and each game he is super dangerous with men on base. MVP- yes! Marlins BP is pretty poor and Zambrano will need them for sure. Pirates are on a mission and will enjoy a home Saturday crowd.
