They are going to be getting calls like crazy from coaches. They can leave and play this year. I think they lose atleast 12 players.

do they have any star players?

What if 30 or 40 players leave? How could they possible field a team? This upcoming season could be a train wreck.

I can already see the vultures circling. There's going to probably be a mass exodus.

I would say 50-55% of their verbal commits of 3, 4 & 5 star recruits for the class of 2015 & 2016. They have already lost a few this weekend but I think it will be a tidal wave after this announcement. PSU is no USC and will have trouble recruiting the top recruits for years (who the hell wants to go to Central PA vs. Socal?). That on top of them not being great the past 10 years could put them as a middling B1G team with the likes of NW and Purdue for the next 10-15 years fighting for Motor City Bowl bids.

Another question, are other D1 college coaches allowed to recruit these players? After SMU, they had no football program so it was obviously allowed but PSU still has an active D1 football prgram and recruiting active players by another coaching staff at D1 schools is a big no-no but will they allow it is this case because of the unique circumstances?

Mr. Meyer, your phone is riging constantly today from a bunch of 18 & 19 year old kids and their fathers. I have to think OSU is going to be the biggest winner in this recruiting issue. Also, Wisky this year, seeing 2 of the teams in their division (OSU & PSU) are banned from postseason play this year so that means Wisky has to finish above Illinois, Purdue & Indiana to make the B1G title game. Cakewalk.

I doubt PSU loses somebody like a senior all american LB like Gerald Hodges, but all of those younger players are fair game. You have to rememeber, there were other teams in close competetion to recruit these players. So many of them will leave and go to their second choice.

Thats a good point. All these kids had visits at the other schools. Any sophomore or freshman will be more likely to leave

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - New Penn State coach Bill O'Brien says he's committed to the school despite the harsh sanctions imposed Monday by the NCAA, including a four-year postseason ban and a big loss in scholarships.

In a statement released by the school, O'Brien said, ``I knew when I accepted the position that there would be tough times ahead. But I am committed for the long term to Penn State and our student athletes.''

School President Rodney Erickson says Penn State accepts the penalties. He says the NCAA sanctions will help the school ``define our course.''

The only thing I'm not certain of is if these kids have to contact the coach first, or if it will be like the SMU situation where it's a free-for-all. If that's the case, the coaches will start the line where the Joe Pa statue used to be.

O'Brien forgot to add "Why would I leave, I have a guaranteed contract in the millions for essentially coaching an intramural team with zero expectations".

So the students pay the price for what the staff did or let happen. That's fucked up. If they think they can prove the staff was negligent then throw those fuckers in jail. That would send the best message of all. Maybe a few of them would get tapped up the ass themselves.
